Megaman Battle Network 4 Tournament Blue Moon/Red Sun Brought to you by Tai (Draconian Anubis) Mason (Fishtoaster) Surai Caffeine (DRINK COCA-COLA!) Table of Contents Notes: This game splits into several different paths along the way, so, next to the paths you’ll see little comments about the navi, mostly a description of its looks. But some just state the name of the navi, and unless you’re colour-blind and have trouble distinguishing shapes (in which case you shouldn’t be playing the game) you should be able to recognize a navi (like Aquaman) by its name. Also, by each part of the table of contents, there is a shortcut in parenthesis, just use the ctrl+F feature to bring up find and type the shortcut and it’ll take you to the correct part of the page. FAQ (QAF) IX. Credits and comments. (ZZZ) X. Legal. (LAGG) XI. Version History (VHH) {I. Introduction (INTRO)} This is the 4’th instalment in the Megaman Battle Network series. The game comes in two versions: Tournament Red Sun and Tournament Blue Moon. As you may have guessed, the game is mostly tournaments, this means it splits into several different paths along the way and you will have to play the game 3 times (on normal, hard, and super hard modes) to get all the paths. And, since capcom wants their game to have high replayability, they have made it so that A. You cannot get all the chips, B. You cannot get all the styles, and C. You cannot get the full game in one playthrough. Isn’t that great? Here’s the stuff that’s new: some chips, some PA’s, some villains, some areas, and styles. Also they’ve redesigned some old villains and chips. There is also a new class of chips called dark chips, more on that later, they have their own section in the Chip Library. {II. Controls, Notes, etc. (CNE)} First of all let me point out that there are two major versions of this walkthrough: the Visual Version which is presented in *.html format, and the normal version which is either a *.txt or *.doc file. The Visual Version contains maps, diagrams, etc, in the “Maps” section of the walkthrough, however, the normal version does not. If you are using the normal version you won’t be able to use the visuals, so ignore any references to visuals in the walkthrough. For those of you who don’t know the controls, here’s a short thing: Start: bring up start menu/pause/start game. Select: Press during a cut scene to skip it./ hide chip selection screen. A: Select/ Use chip or hold to charge sometimes (in battle)/continue conversation window. B: Deselect/ use megabuster or charge to use charge shot (in battle). L: Talk to Lan/Megaman, Run (chip select screen). R: Jack in/ get chip description (in chip select screen). Note: Mini-game controls will be given when the mini-game comes up in the actual guide. By the way, for those of you playing the Japanese game and don’t understand Japanese, here is the start menu: Chip Folder: You can access your chip folder, equip a different folder, or edit a folder. Subchips: You can see your Subchips and use them. Chip Library: This library will show you what chips you have, and what PA’s you have used. Megaman: This screen displays Megaman’s stats and souls. NaviCust is accessed through this window. Email: Check your mail. Key Items: A list of key items. Link Play: The link play stuff. Save: Save Term abbreviations: The following stuff is abbreviations I will use from time to time in the walkthrough. Green Mystery Data: GMD Blue Mystery Data: BMD Purple Mystery Data: PMD Megaman: Mega Netnavi: Navi Also, in battle, you will occasionally see GMDs; they have an hp of 1. If you can get through the battle without it being destroyed, whatever in it is yours. Also, note that the stuff in battle GMDs is usually rarer than out of battle GMDs and sometimes even BMDs. Ok, welcome to our walkthrough for Megaman Battle Network 4: Tournament Blue Moon and Red sun. I want to start by making one thing clear: This walkthrough is written in a dubbed form. That is to say, I’ve tried to make sure that most names in it are dubbed. So for those of you only familiar with the Japanese versions, here’s a list of most of the name changes: Netto=Lan, Yaito=Yai, Dekao=Dex, Higure=Higsby, Meijin=Mr. Famous, Meiru=Mayl (I don’t know why it’s spelled like that, because in the dub it’s pronounced “May-lu”), Hinoken=Mr. Match, Enzan=Chaud, Rockman=Megaman, Fireman=Torchman, Blues=Protoman, Forte=Bass also I will be making up names for several cities, but I’ll tell you what they are in their part of the guide. If you have any questions please email me at anubis_drac@hotmail.com or if you’re an expert at the game and need some advanced help email Surai at blackdragon1309@hotmail.com. Also, please give the emails a subject like “blue moon help” or something, as all of us get tons of junk mail and ignore just about anything that doesn’t attract attention. And excuse the corny section titles; I was never very good at that. {III. Battle Network History (MMBNH)} This is just a short recap of what has happened so far in this popular gaming series; btw, I’ll try not to give anything too much away in case there are people who haven’t played the games: *Megaman Battle Network 1: Lan Hikari (the games’ main character) gets a netnavi, Megaman. An evil terrorist group known as the WWW (World Three) and led by Wily arises and Lan and Megaman fight it and eventually save the world and the Internet from destruction by the Life Virus. *Megaman Battle Network 2: The WWW are finally defeated and everything is swell. Or it would be, except this is a video game so something bad has to happen. An evil net mafia known as Gospel arises and terrorizes the world and it’s Internet. Throughout the game several attacks are made and villains try to take out Lan and Megaman so they don’t foil Gospel’s plans. Then Lan and Megaman foil Gospel’s plans and defeat Gospel, as well as a cruddy copy of Bass. *Megaman Battle Network 3: What! The WWW is back. How annoying. There’s a small tournament in this game, that’s something new. Anyway, this time Wily really has a decent plan. Throughout the game Wily’s henchman gather the mysterious Tetra codes. As you have guessed, there are four of them. In the end Wily gets the tetra codes and unleashes a giant monster known as Alpha, which was the previous Internet, if you want to know more, buy the game! Anyway, as always, Megaman beats the enemy down. *Megaman Battle Network 4: This game is based on 3 tournaments, making the game split up into several different paths. Meanwhile, a giant asteroid is headed towards earth! But not to worry, some science dudes are harnessing the awesome power of science to scientifically defend earth from the asteroid. In other words they have built a giant laser beam thingy to destroy the asteroid. Only one problem, someone wants to use the laser as a tractor beam to pull the asteroid into the earth. This game has a somewhat complex plot. Throughout the game Megaman is struggling with the darkness in his soul. {IV.Walkthrough (BBWT)} All right, you people know the drill. But for those of you who don’t, here’s how a walkthrough works: You can either print it out or play the game while reading the walkthrough. Just find the part of the walkthrough that corresponds with where you are in the game and voila, you’re being led through the game. Also, if you’re reading the visual version, you can just look at “Sample 1” in the maps section to get an idea of my directions. If you aren’t you will have to bear with my description of my directions. Now, since this game is presented in a two-point perspective 3-D design, you can’t go by the normal N, S, E, and W directions, since they are all shifted. Now, bear with me here, the field is presented in a slightly off rectangle, so pretend that the very top corner is the “real” North and the bottommost corner is the “real” South, and so on. So here is a list of my shift in directions: “Real” North- Northeast “Real” Northeast- East “Real” East- Southeast “Real” Southeast- South “Real” South- Southwest “Real” Southwest- West “Real” West- Northwest “Real” Northwest- North Or, to make it simple, just look at the upper right half of the square as “up” and “north”. Or just go through the walkthrough and get used to the directions. Finally, let me point out that there is a list of every known jack in point in the game in the chapter VII. {-In the beginning (ITB)} Good Morning. Once Lan gets out of bed go and get your PET, it’s on the desk. Oooooh, pretty. It’s been remodelled. Go downstairs and talk to everyone. The stove is on fire…again. Jack in and run up to the metaurs (the yellow guys with picks). This will be your tutorial battle for the game. Unfortunately you can’t skip it. When you’re done, jack in again and grab the 500 zenny from the BMD. Talk to Lan’s dad and he’ll give you 500 zenny and tell you to buy a Recovery Batch with it. Go to Lan’s room and jack-in to his PC. Ok, I’m going to call this town’s Internet ACDC. The blue path leads to the next area here. Follow the blue path to ACDC3 (check the start screen to see where you are) and go to the end of it; near the left you will see a purple navi. Talk to him to get the Recovery Batch. Jack out and go give Dad the batch. By the way, I will be calling this town with all the houses ACDC town and its Internet ACDC1, 2, and so on. Later, Lan and Dad will eat and then prepare to go shopping in the City. After the cutscene, talk to everyone on the map, the kids in the park, the two people by Yai’s house, and Dex. When you’re done go to the metroline. After the cutscene you’re in downtown Dentech. Now this place has three sections, Town1, lower/upper Town2, and lower/upper Town3. I will also be calling its Internet “City”. Head along the path to Town2. After the cutscene go over to Mayl and Yai and talk to them. Then jack into the stereo in front of them. Talk to the hovering navi, then go up and talk to Roll and Glyde. When done grab the BMD and jack out. Talk to the girls. After the cutscene continue on to Town3. Walk up to the group for another cutscene. The guy talking is Jo-Mon; remember him. {-Darkness (DDD)} After the cutscene head back to Town2. Talk to the people in front of the stereo and jack in. Tons of navis are lying on the ground and hovering over them is the mysterious navi from before. After you talk to him, go back home and jack in. Note the navi victims lying on the ground, not good. Head to ACDC3 and go up for a cutscene. The strange navi has beaten up Gutsman and Glyde and is about to feast on Roll when Mega intervenes. Then he takes Roll and flies off. When the cutscene is over, stay on the blue path and continue. You’re now in the City Internet. Stay on the coloured path and find your way to City2. Once there, go up the ramp and find your way to an area with two warp points. One of these leads to the bottom part of the area, the other one leads to where we need to go, so take the one at the north of the map. Once you’re through, grab the BMD and continue on. You’re now in a different part of City1. Go down the ramp at hit the purple warp. Welcome to the Internet for the sound system (the one in Town3). Walk forward for a cutscene with the mysterious navi. You can’t get to him yet. After the cutscene, jack out and head to Town. At the end of Town2 talk to the guy guarding the entrance to Town3. We need a new route. Go back to Town1; see the fence? Press A to open it. Go up the stairs and continue on. You are now one a sidebar built into the side of the building in Town2. I simply call it upper Town2. Continue on (by the way, you can jack into the billboard on the west part of the building), you will eventually get to the upper part of Town3, where Lan will be able to jack into the Sound System. Except that right now the sound system is emitting a funky sound that hurts people’s ears. After the cutscene Lan is back in upper Town2. Earmuffs anyone? Go back through Town1 and to lower Town2 and jack into the stereo. Walk up to the green navi and pick the first answer to both questions. He’ll fight you (230 HP, occasionally he’ll try a sword attack and he’ll constantly lob bombs at you.). When you’ve beaten him, he’ll give you some earmuffs. Go back to Upper Town3 and head around the sound system and jack in. There are two areas in the sound system. Here’s the deal, at the end of each area is a gate. Talk to the green program and you’ll get a start-up program. The in the middle of each area there is a giant machine. When you press A Mega will use the start-up data and start the machine. The machine emits a 10-second signal. In these ten seconds ghosts are visible in the system. So you’ll see several bluish ghosts floating around the areas. You need to catch them by running after them and pressing A when you get to them. After you catch all the ghosts in an area the green program by the gate will open the gate. There are three ghosts in area 1 and four in area 2. I expect you to be able to get through this without guidance. Just start the machine, and catch the ghosts. If you don’t catch all the ghosts in 10 seconds, just go back to the machine and catch the remaining ghosts (you don’t have to start over again). Once you have gotten past both gates and are at the end of area 2 (you’re on the right path if after the second gate you see some more victims on the ground), go up and enter the cutscene. Oh, Shademan is it? Pleased to meat you. After he introduces himself he lets you listen to his music. After the cutscene, you’re controlling Lan instead of Megaman. Go all the way back through town until you are at the lower level of Town3. Move Lan over to the volume dial (the big round thing) and press A. Lan will turn down the volume. Meanwhile, the noise dies out and Shademan attacks Mega in the computer! Shademan HP: 500 Element: Dark Attacks: Sound Wave-Shademan sends out a wave of sound that hits one panel in front of him and the column after. If it hits, mega will be temporarily paralysed. Seeker Bat: This bat homes in on you to an extent, it flies in a straight line and can turn once. Strategy: First, let me point out that you can’t kill Shademan at this part of the storyline. You need some special chips that you wont get till later. He has one main advantage, which is also his main weak point: He uses the power of darkness. That being said any normal chips or buster shots can’t affect him. However, every time they hit, he disappears in a quick flash of shadow, while he takes no damage, it does stop his attack. Anyway, to beat him this time, you have to hit him 5 times. Just shoot him with your buster. When the battle stops after 5 hits, Chaud and Protoman step in. Shademan runs away but drops something (the Dark Chip). Proto and Chaud leave. Mega grabs the dark chip. Then, after the cutscene, you’re outside of the metroline in ACDC. Go into Higsby’s shop (the one right by the park) and talk to Higsby. He’ll explain a small something about Dark Chips. When done, go home and press A at Lan’s bed to go to sleep. The game will ask if you want to save. G’night. {-Goody, a tournament (GAT)} Welcome to the Dentech Tournament. It’s going to be slightly annoying. Also, you actually have to do something to get in! But fear not, for you are reading a walkthrough. There are several paths in the game. And they come at you randomly. So just refer to whatever path you have by what the navi looks like. Also, I’ll describe their owner incase you don’t know the navi. Here are your possible paths, listed in the order you will most likely get them, there are 3 rounds in each tourney, so paths will be listed 1 to 3, and I’m basing them on how I went through the tournament. For example, a possible path is Ghosts-Toy-and Synchro Swimming. 1.Ghosts and a girl. 1.Gangs of Dentech 2.That’s a nice toy. 2.Electrifying excitement. 3.Sychronized Swimming was today?! (BM) 3.Mathematics (BM) 3.Not that brat again! (RS) 3.Navi Relapse (RS) {*What? We have to do something to get in? (WHS)} Oh well. As you’re sleeping, there will be a cutscene at ANSA. When you wake up, go to Town3. Yippee, it’s Jo-Mon. Lets sign up for the tournament shall we? Talk to him and he’ll give you the pass for his PC. The PC is on the South side of the building in Town2. So go there and jack in. Go through the PC and use the warp. You are in City2. Open the security cube with the pass and continue on through to City 3. Keep going on the yellow path till you see an orange navi. Talk to him and he’ll ask you to enter your name/initials. Do so. Wow, you’ve signed up, for the most part. Jack out and head back to Jo-Mon. Uh-oh, official looking people standing around doing nothing. Talk to Jo-mon, we will have to do a couple of jobs to get into the tournament. There is a blonde man, a scientist man, and a woman. Talk to them to start their job. Blonde Man: Find a bunch of metaur. Why? He won’t tell us! Ok, but it sounds a bit shady. Anyway. First jack in somewhere and go to the end of ACDC2. To the right there is a path that twists in several ways and also leads to Dex’s homepage warp. Walk around on that path a little until you find a purple navi. Talk to him, and then go to City2. Once there, take the left warp. You should be in lower City2, walk around and you should find a green navi slightly hidden by one of the paths above you. Talk to him and then jack out. Remember that billboard on the west side of the building in upper Town2? Go to it and jack in. Go up and talk to the bad (purple) navi hangin with a bunch of metaurs. He’ll fork over some data and then try to jump you. Once you’ve beaten him, jack out and go back to the blonde and talk to him. One down, two to go. Scientist: Your mission: Find some insects. This is a piece of cake. One of the insects is on Yai’s stuffed bear and the second is in one of the trees by the squirrel statue in ACDC Park. Then go back to the scientist and talk to him to end the task. Woman: Talk to her and she’ll ask you a random question. Answer the questions, and then you’ll fight 3 battles. Congratulations. You’re finished. Now talk to Jo-Mon to finish this part. You are now qualified for the tournament. Also, you can now go to the Dentech Battle Dome via the metroline. So do so. Once you are at the Dome, go in through the door on the west side. Go past the lady, up the stairs, and through the door. Go and talk to the blonde dude and he’ll show Lan to the tournament line-up. You will then see the line-up and a mugshot of the opposing navis. Memorize the opponent navi and then find its corresponding part of this walkthrough. If you can’t find the part of the walkthrough you need, read the first couple of lines of each part to find out what you need. {*Ghosts and a girl-Normal Navi (green) (GAG)} Try to exit the building. You will run into a girl named Yuuko. She wants to play tag. Follow her outside and there will be a cutscene. Eventually, Lan gets an email. Read it and head home. Seems you have a guest (mooching off of Lan’s TV nonetheless). Talk to him and he’ll give you a task and a crystal ball. The task is this: there are 6 invisible navi ghosts on the net and it’s your job to find them. This is how you do it: When you jack into the Internet, pay attention to the crystal ball on your screen. It tells you how close you are to a ghost. Yellow is semi-close and red is very close. So when it’s red just press “A” in different directions until you find the ghost. So go into Lan’s room and jack in. Meanwhile, here are the whereabouts of the ghosts (note: the * (asterisk) means you will have to fight the ghost): ACDC1: Near the purple skull gate. ACDC2: Just behind the net merchant.* ACDC3: Around the purple skull gate.* City1: On the twisting path. City1: By the gate in the west of the area.* City2: On a path between the two warp spots on the upper level.* City3: Around the area near the end (where you registered for the tourney). When you’re done, jack out and talk to the visitor. He’ll thank you and leave. Now that that’s over with, head to the Dome and go through the room and into the battle room. A cutscene will take place while you and Yuuko are introduced, and then you fight a normal navi with 300 HP. It constantly throws bombs and occasionally attempts a sword attack. Nothing hard. This is an easy victory. After the battle check who you’re up against next. {*Gangs of Dentech-Bad Navi, purple (GAD)} Your opponent, Gantetsu, introduces himself. When he leaves, head out. Lan gets cornered by a couple of gang-like dudes. After a bit of conversation, Gantetsu jumps into the fray and saves Lan. After the scene, head to lower Town3 and there will be another cutscene. When it’s finished, go back into Town2 and jack into Jo-Mon’s PC. Go to City3 so Megaman can play hero. Once there, head up to the upper area around where the net merchant is and there will be a cutscene with a gang of bad purple navis. They will arrange themselves along the path to protect their leaders (the black navis). All you have to do is talk to them one by one, and fight them. When you have beaten them, the leaders flee to the platform on the lower bit where you registered for the tournament. Now there are groups of 3 navis in the way. Oh well, go down and take them out one by one. When you get to the leaders Gantetsu’s navi takes them out. What a waste of time that was. Anyway, now that we are done go back to the Dome and enter the battling area to fight Gantetsu’s navi. It’s a standard bad navi; it occasionally uses bombs and swords and every now and then it summons a virus into battle to annoy you. Another easy victory. {*That’s a nice toy.-Topman (TNT)} Your opponent is Topman. His operator is an old and annoying geyser. Maybe my probation officer will be kind enough as to mark this down as community service to the senior citizens. Anyway, exit the dome and head for the metroline. As you do so you’ll see a cutscene in which your opponent shows his grandson a big spinning top. After a while the grandson runs off and the top starts malfunctioning. Lan automatically jacks in. Go up to the metaur sprite and fight it. When done, jack out. The old man gets miffed for some reason and runs off. How nice. Wait, he forgot something. He left his giant top! Maybe we can get some good bids on Ebay, oh yeah, forgot, community service. Oh well, let’s return it then. Head to Town2, find the old guy, and then give him back his top. More of his rudeness. When done go to ACDC and talk to the old people in the park to bring on another cutscene. They want you to do something for them. Oh well. Find somewhere to jack in and do so. Here’s what you have to do: there are five brown navis on the internet, once you find them, you have to answer a question, answer wrongly, and you have to scrub their back by alternately pressing L and R, after you finish either one, you get a bit of Hidden Data. Here are their locations (do them in the order given): City2: He’s between the two warp spots. City2: He’s on the lower level. City3: On the net merchant’s area. City1: Go west from the end of city1 and head down a bit. ~After you beat the fourth, you get an item that opens the gate nearest Lan’s homepage~ ACDC1: Through the gate nearest Lan’s homepage. Note: this one fights you instead of asking a question. After you beat the navi, jack out and go to lower Town3. You’ll see the old man and a slightly identical man. Lan gives them the data and they get ecstatic. When the cut scene is over, head to the Dome and enter the battle room to begin the fight with Topman. Topman HP: 600 Element: None Attacks: Top Toss: Topman lets loose two tops that spin around the playing field. Giant Top: Topman turns into a giant top and attacks you. Top Crash: Topman turns into a giant top, goes off screen, reappears above your field, and then crashes down. This cracks the panel it hits. Strategy: He’s pretty easy, try to stun him or use widespread chips. You should also be able to dodge most of his attacks if your timing is good. {*Electrifying excitement.-Sparkman (EES)} After you are done looking at who you’re up against next, Lan gets an email from PET maintenance wanting to check up on Lan’s PET. Leave the building and you’ll see a dude with a blue hat. It’s the PET inspector guy! Go talk to him. Lan gives the guy his PET and after the guy examines it (rather, screws it up) he runs off. It turns out the guy was actually our bad-sport opponent Joumon. Luckily for us he’s an idiot and he left a piece of paper behind. Also he has taken your main folder if you have more than one (not counting the extra folder). How rude. Go to lower Town2 and find an old lady and talk to her. Then find an old guy looking through the window in the same area and talk to him. There will be a short cutscene explaining what we do. So here’s the deal: You have to find seven places from the clues in the paper Joumon dropped and get codes. You can do it if you want, but you’re on your own because I’m not going to lead you through it. What I’m going to do is skip that bit and just give you the codes. So if you don’t want to go find them, go to the man at the window and tell him one of these codes: 7374262 9681345 1863546 Everything’s back to normal and you have gotten your primary folder back if it was stolen. Now we are done so go to the dome and face off against Joumon and Sparkman. Sparkman HP: 500 Attacks: Element: Electric Volt Bomb: Sparkman turns orange and teleports around his area a lot, if he gets on the same row as you, he’ll launch the bomb. Terra Bolt: Sparkman sticks his arms into the ground and pumps some juice into it. This causes an electrical current to move along the area. It goes in a wavy motion around the columns, up a column, then over, then down and repeat. Dark Conductor: Sparkman raises his arms and eventually Megaman’s Dark Soul will appear and launch an attack. Strategy: Once again we have an easy boss. The fact that he has an element just makes him easier to beat. His attacks are easy to dodge and he only uses Dark Conductor on low HP. If you have any Lance or Boomerang chips, he’s toast. {*Synchronized Swimming was today?!-Aquaman (blue moon) (SSA)} Once you’ve seen whom you’re up against, start heading out of the dome. On the way Lan will see a girl by the vending machine. That would be Shuuko, Aquaman’s operator. After the cutscene, go outside for another cutscene, this time between Shuuko and her brothers. When it’s done talk to the remaining brother and he’ll give Lan an oxygen mask. Wonder what that’s for. Anyway, head to lower Town2 and jack in via Jo-Mon’s PC. Once in, you will notice a couple things. First of all, Mega now has an oxygen bar; this shows how much oxygen he has left in the mask. Second, when you exit the homepage and get onto the actual Internet, you will notice that it is completely flooded. As you travel through the Internet your oxygen slowly depletes, you can refill it by going into homepages. So when you are low on air, just go to a homepage and wait for the air to refill. Now that you know what’s going on, here’s what you need to do: Go to City2 and look around for Aquaman. Once you find him he swims to ACDC2. So go to ACDC2. There will be a cutscene where Aquaman swims just behind a gate. Darn. Jack out and go back to the Dome. Ask Shuuko’s brother where she is and he’ll tell you that she’s in town. So go there and look around for her. You’ll see her shopping with one of the brothers. Talk to her and you’ll get the key to open the gate the Aquaman’s behind. So go back to the gate and unlock it, then make your way through the path until you get to Aquaman. He drains the water and it’s over with. Now that you’re done, go to the Dome and face him in the tournament. Aquaman HP: 500 Attacks: Element: Water Bubble Shot: The traditional bubble shot only a bit faster. Bomb: He will occasionally throw a bomb at you. Water Jets: Aquaman will summon two faucets on the top and bottom rows. They shoot slow jets of water that cover two columns. Strategy: This is possibly one of the easiest bosses in the game. His attacks are easy to dodge, and just stay in the back column when he uses the water jets. If you have any spark chips, they are really nice to use. When you finally win you get your first soul: The Aqua soul. Now get ready for Lan’s date. {*Mathematics-Numberman, he’s got a big head, it looks kinda like a disco ball (blue moon) (NNN)} A blond man comes up to Lan and gives a message from Higsby. Something is wrong. Head to Higsby’s shop and talk to Higsby. Soon, an annoying dude called Nam (This can go in the dumbest names of 2003 category) interrupts. Looks like he’s trying to but Higsby’s shop. Well we can’t have that! After a small bit of conversation, Higsby leaves. Now let’s save Higsby’s shop by passing out fliers to increase sales. Well, we might as well get this over with. You have 20 fliers to hand out over the Internet and house appliances and not everyone will take a flier. So for your convenience here is a list of the locations of those who will take the fliers. Also, there will be stated how many are in each area. ACDC1: 2 ACDC2: 3 ACDC3: 1 City1: 1 City2: 2 City3: 2 The stove in Lan’s house: 1 The food shop by the Dome: 1 Stereo in lower Town2: 2 Billboard in upper Town2: 1 Sound System Internet through upper Town3: 4 Now go back to Higsby’s shop and talk to his assistant, Nanako. She thanks you and gives you a chip for the task. Then Nam comes in. After the cutscene, go to lower Town2 and jack in via Jo-Mons PC. Go to City1 and go west and south. You will come to a gate and Mega will hear Numberman behind it. Looks like he’s been put behind the gate by Nam. Jack out and head to Higsby’s shop and then talk to Nanako to get a key through the gate. So jack in somewhere and go back to the gate and unlock it. Now we have to get through another gate. This one is highly annoying. It has three parts and each one wants a 3-digit password. There are different answers, and most people have different questions. So unfortunately I can’t just give you the numbers. But here are some numbers and their questions that I got in my playthrough and have found on the Internet so you can try them if you get stuck: Hon-Sen (Metroline): 111 ?: 333 ?: 0.33 ?: 3.31 ?: 000 Once you get past the gate and rescue Numberman, he’ll inform you that Nam locked him there. Jack out and go to Higsby’s shop. Nam and Higsby are arguing and then some kids come and annoy Nam by saying that they like the shop. Nam then gets steamed and leaves. Now it’s time for the tournament round so head on over to the Dome to fight Higsby and Numberman. Numberman HP: Element: Normal Attacks: Math Bomb: Numberman launches bombs that have a number on them, that’s the bomb’s HP, you have to deplete its HP before it gets to you. Triangle charge: A triangle appears and flies at you. Dice roll: Numberman rolls a 6-sided dice, it lands in your field and explodes doing damage equal to 10 * the number rolled by the dice. He only does this on low HP. Strategy: Numberman makes for an annoying opponent in this game. His math bomb is now about twice as fast as it was in MMBN1 and he seems to like throwing triangles at you when you’re dodging/destroying the math bombs. Just try to dodge as much as you can and pick on the bomb with the lowest number. Unfortunately he doesn’t have any element so there aren’t any weaknesses to pick on. Try to stun him or damage him right before he does his Math Bomb attack. When you have finally beaten him, you get Number Soul. Now get ready for your date tomorrow. {*Not that brat again!-Gutsman, big yellow guy (red sun) (NBA)} After you look at the line-up, Dex will walk up to you, followed by Chisao, his little brother. MMBN3 veterans may remember him. Dex eventually upsets Chisao, and the little dude runs off, followed by Dex. When you leave the room, Dex comes up to you and informs you that the brat got kidnapped. You eventually get an email from the kidnapper. When the cutscenes are over, head to Town3 and you’ll see an old guy by the sound system, talk to him to get the “memo”. Now jack in to Jo-Mons PC and go to City3. Once there, go to through the long path just behind the net merchant and you should see a green navi eventually. Talk to him to get the “hint data”. Now jack out and go to the Battle Dome and go through the front (south) door and look at the flowers with the bow on them. You’ll then get an email from Chisao. Now go to ACDC Park and examine the squirrel statue. Then go to upper Town3 and jack into the sound system. Go to the end where you fought Shademan and talk to the programs there. One of them will put you in a battle. When you win you get an email from the kidnapper. So now you need to go through the Internet and find five navis working for the kidnapper and get their data files. So here they are: 1. ACDC1: near the purple security gate. 2. ACDC3: on the second blue path. You have to pay 1000z. 3. City1: just past the exit. Test: -1:Personal Terminal -2:Kirin -3:Joumon -4:Nanako -5:Takoyaki (Kanji) 4. City2: lower area (take the warp point). Trade a Bubbler R. 5. City3: Near the end, on that path that you signed up for the tournament. You get thrown into a battle. Now that you’re done, jack out and go to lower Town3. Go right up to the sound system and you get a cutscene. Then you get an email and a battle. Once you win, you get a message from the kidnapper and Chisao comes running up. Now you’re done, so go enjoy your battle with Gutsman. Believe it or not, but he’s easier in this game than in all of the others, so remind him why he shouldn’t enter tournaments where he could be lined up with Megaman. Gutsman HP: 500 Element: Normal Attacks: Guts Punch: If you are ever on the front column, Gutsman will come up and smack you one. Machine Gun: Gutsman is now capable of using that old machine gun that guts style gave you in MMBN3. Guts Hammer: Gutsman’s hands form a giant hammer and he smashes it down. Random panels crack (and hurt you if you’re standing on them), and then, a second later, some rocks fall from above. Strategy: Ok, his machine gun is annoying, but for the most part his attacks have been dumbed down. First of all, his hammer doesn’t cause a panel-cracking dynawave anymore, and the rocks are easy to dodge. Also, unlike the previous games, his punches don’t fly at you, so there’s nothing to worry about there. The only problem is that he’s guts, so he doesn’t flinch, so you can’t stop an arsenal of attacks if he wishes attack you so evasion is a key skill here. Anyway, he’s still just Gutsman, so don’t fret. Congratulations, you beat the first tournament and you have also attained the highly useful Guts soul. Now get ready for Lan’s date. {*Navi Relapse-Torchman (red sun) (NRT)} Well, Mr. Match is back, with his original navi, Torchman. Speak of the devil. Mr. Match comes in and him and Lan talk a bit. When he leaves, Lan gets hungry, and goes for some food. So head on outside and go to the food shop (Takoyaki cart) right next to the Dome. Lan orders the food and she goes inside to get it. Meanwhile, Mr. Match comes round and pushes Lan aside. Lan asks the girl how she knows Mr. Match and she tells him the story and mentions how nice he is. Lan just can’t get hold of the idea that a former WWW member could ever be nice. She asks him if they are friends and he says no. Then some guys walk in, harass the girl, and Mr. Match scares them off. Then Lan smells something burning. So jack into the shop and fight the virus inside. After you beat it, go back into the Dome and head into the preparation room and talk you the blonde dude to get the Fire ID. Now jack in somewhere and head to ACDC3. Then go to the west side and unlock the blue security gate. Continue on and take the warp. Go onward and you’ll come across two purple navis and Torchman. After the cutscenes jack out and go back to the shop and talk to Mr. Match. Looks like everything is back to normal. Go into the Dome for the battle with Torchman and another cutscene eventually takes place. Seems like there is some trouble. Being the good guy Lan offers to help. Now, there are viruses hidden around the Dome and it’s up to Lan to exterminate them. Exit the arena and go to the preparation room. Search the lower items on the table and one of them will put you in a fight. The next one is in the vending machine and the one after that is in the purple haired lady’s desk. Then go to the other section of the Dome and check out the flowers with the bow on them. Then check the screen that separates the sections of the Dome. Now go back to the arena room. Jack into the arena machine and you’ll get into a nice mini game. This is the deal: Several bombs pop up and you need to disarm them by running up to them and pressing A. If they get the chance to explode, Megaman takes damage. When you are done with the game, examine the machine itself and fight the viruses. Now that they are deleted, you can finally have your battle. Torchman HP: 1000 Element: Fire Attacks: Flame Jets: He’ll stick out both arms and shoot two jets of fire at you. Heat Bomb: Two bombs get shot out of his head and land on random panels; they burn whatever panel they hit. Heat Tower: Flame towers slowly home in on Megaman. Strategy: This guy is a piece of cake. By now you should have some Aqua cannon chips so use them. Try to hit him before he does an attack, as his attacks are annoying. Also, area steal and panel destroy chips work like a charm, as it can be annoying to hit him and his heat tower won’t go past a broken panel. Congratulations. Megaman says that his soul is on fire and you get the Fire soul. Now get ready for a date. {-Cielo Castillo (dumb and annoying) (CCC)} Welcome to what many people agree are some of the most tedious and annoying chapters in the entirety of the MMBN series. Lets get on with it now shall we? The day begins with Lan in the park. After the cutscene, Lan gets an email explaining that since you beat the Dentech city tournament, he’s now entered in the Hawk Tournament. Go to Mayl’s house and see what she wants. She’ll give you the password for her security code. Now jack in and go all the way to City3 (since capcom is evil, they made it so that you can’t leave Mayl’s house, so you’ll have to walk all the way from Mayl’s HP to City3). When you get there, walk around and you’ll find Mayl’s navi, Roll. Talk to her, you’ll find out that a theme park (Cielo Castillo) is opening up soon and then a navi walks in saying that due to the grand opening, he is offering free admission tickets for anyone who can beat a couple of viruses. Talk to him, by now you know the drill, the viruses aren’t a major challenge. After you win, you get a free pass for you and anyone in your company. Meanwhile, Mayl and Lan prepare for their date at the theme park. Unfortunately, Lan hears his house alarm go off. Head on over to his house and you’ll see his mom tied up. She’s ok, now read the note on Lan’s computer. The bad dude wants Lan to meet him in Park Internet (hereafter referred as Park1, etc.) 3. So go back to Mayl and tell her what has happened. Now, since the park itself isn’t open, we’re going to break into its Internet. So jack in somewhere and go to the end of City3 (next to the big gate, which, by the way, is the entrance to the Park Internet. Now, seeing as Megaman is a pretty basic navi really, the only thing that can be done is attack the gate. Unfortunately, it had no effect, and the noise attracted the attention of a navi. Great, now we have to beat up an innocent navi. He’s pretty easy, once he’s down, check his body and you’ll find a hint to unlocking the gate: AJEKDUR 2 437 5 6 1 Now, you can either find the trick to this yourself and enter the password to the gate, or you can read how to solve it: Put the letters in place as indicated by the letter beneath them. So the final answer is RAEJDUK. So go and enter RAEJDUK into the gate and it gets unlocked. Go through. Welcome to Park Internet. As you can see the décor is very girlish. Now, go through the area, following the orange path to Park2. Now head up and go on the first of two forks. You should soon come across one of those evil purple navis. Talk to him and beat up him and his metaurs. He leaves and you automatically jack out. Then there’s a scene with Shademan and everything is alright. Lan’s mom is back to normal as well. Go to the house and Lan gets an email reminding him of his meeting with Mayl. After that, you’ll be taken to Lan’s room where we get re-introduced to the Navi Customizer. There’s nothing new to it but you still have to go through the tutorial. Now that that’s done with, go to the Metroline and head for the newest site, Cielo Castillo. What an annoying place. It’s divided up into three parts. So here’s how it goes: CC1=the starting area before you actually enter, CC2= the area you get in right after you enter, and CC3= the area you get to by taking the south exit from CC2. After you get in, talk to the park official that everyone is crowded around. The rides aren’t working, well that isn’t good now is it? Now, jack into the cart around the south area of CC2. Go west until you come by a program next to a warp point, talk to him to get a security cube pass. So take the warp and make your way to Park3, I’m not going to lead you since you’ve already been in the Park Internet. Once in Park3, you’ll notice a navi sprawled out on the ground. Move on and you’ll see an oddly shaped machine at the end of the path. Go up and examine it, only problem is that it’s bugged. Once you’re done, jack out and talk to Mayl. She wants some Ice Cream, so go to the Ice Cream Cart in CC3 and talk to the lady to order some, then take it to Mayl. Now you’re in for a load of cutscenes. When they’re over with, Mayl goes off to CC3. Follow her and you’ll find her in front of the haunted house attraction. She’s scared and wants you to go in first. So do so. It’s not really scary; there are some interesting special effects though. Then there’s a cutscene proving how wimpy Mayl is. While you’re in here, head up to Django (Bokura no Taiyou anyone? He’s the only thing in the haunted house that’s not supposed to be scary, so you can’t miss him.). It’s just a statue, but examine it with A anyway to get the Gun Del Sol chip. It’s very useful. Go through the rest of the house and out. Now get ready for some classic RPG mayhem. {-Give into the darkness (GITD)} Like I said, mayhem. The robots at the park are all malfunctioning. Your job is to go through the park and jack into the malfunctioning robots. Each robot has a river, and some sort of fairy tale in it. While on the river, Megaman will constantly be blocked by a giant slab telling part of a fairy tale with a piece missing, you will then have to go on the path given and bring back a piece of data that has the missing part of the story on it (If you don’t like my diagrams or directions, refer to the noted maps in the maps section of this walkthrough). At the end of each robot is a machine with some viruses, you then take them out and the robot stops malfunctioning. Easy right? Mayl and some brats are about to get severely injured by and axe-murderer princess robot. So you jack into the robot. Talk to the navi by the river and he’ll let you on his boat. Eventually, a fairy tale tablet’ll block you. Go along the path and you’ll find the set of data. Take the leftmost one (Kagami) (Refer to “Tablet Set 1” in Maps) and take it back to the tablet. On the second tablet, get the rightmost one (Taiboku) (Refer to “Tablet Set 2 in Maps). Then on the third stop, get the top left one (Konshin…) (Refer to “Tablet Set 3” in Maps). When done, go to the end and kill the viruses. Now jack out and go to CC2 where you’ll see a lion like robot, jack into it. At the first stop, get the bottom one (Wizard Monkey) (Refer to “Tablet Set 4” in Maps). The second is the middle one (Mahou Fuuji) (Refer to “Tablet Set 5” in Maps). Now, from here on some of the parts are arranged weirdly, so you’ll either have to put up with my diagrams or use the maps. So in the diagrams, numbers (1,2,3, etc) are the data and + signs are the Internet path, but since my diagrams are bad, I’ll try to explain most of them to you. Now, on the third stop you need to get two tablets at one, so get 3 (Hana no Yosa) then get 2 (Hikkaki) and then bring them both back. Refer to “Tablet Set 6” or the diagram: +++2+++4+ +++++++++ +1+++3+++ While you’re sailing, a small cutscene occurs. Then you go on. Fight the viruses at the end of the platform and then jack out. Now find the next robot (this is the only one that doesn’t have a disguise) and jack in. Get on the boat and go on, another one of the cutscenes happens and then you continue sailing. On the first stop there are three on the right and one just left of them. Grab the bottom right one (Sensou) and also the upmost right one (Kanjou) (Refer to “Tablet Set 7” in Maps). Now, on the second stop there is a top and bottom, then a top side and a bottom side. Grab the top one (Kotori) first, and then get the one at the bottom side (Dance) (Refer to “Tablet Set 8” in Maps). While you’re sailing to the end the boat stops again and some weak viruses attack you. On the third stop, there are four long bits sticking out. There is a top, a top side, bottom side, and a bottom (due to the fact that they are very spaced out, I wasn’t able to make a map for them). Grab the data at the bottom side (Omocha no Buhin) and go back and finish off the viruses in this robot. Finally, the last robot awaits us. Go back to CC3 and into the haunted house. Go up to the Dracula robot (he’s standing in front of the giant portrait) and jack in. You should notice some new things; the Candy Land wallpaper and river have gone, to be replaced by vampire bats and a lava flow. Get on and enjoy another one of those “oh no the boat has mysteriously stopped” cutscenes. Now, on the first stop grab 1 (Gun Del Sol) and 4 (Shinku no Mafuraa). Refer to the diagram *sigh* or “Tablet Set 9” in the Maps section. +++2++ ++++++ 1+++++ ++++++ ++3++4 Now, the next stops only require one piece of data each, but there is the same path for both stops. So for stop two grab the topmost one (Otenko sama (probably just “Otenko” in English versions)), and when you go back for stop three, grab the third one down (Taiyou no Hikari) (Refer to “Tablet Set 10” in maps for both of the tablets). On the way to the fourth stop, the ferry stops and you go around a rectangular lava flow. Then you get asked a question, choose apple as your answer, if you select grapes you go round the flow again until you get the right answer. On the fourth stop, get 1 (Tenmado), then 4 (Taiyouu!). Refer to the diagram (The area is to spaced out again so I won’t be making a map for it). Note: The * is a BMD that happens to be in the diagrams way. ++++1+2 +*+++++ +++++++ +++++++ ++++ ++++ ++++ 3++4 On the way to the end of the robot we get attacked again. After you beat the viruses, head to the last platform. One problem, there’s no control panel. Then the boatman steps onto the platform and reveals himself. Turns out he was Shademan all along. Time to beat him down. Strategy: He’s easy; you still can’t hurt him the conventional way, so just stop his attacks with your buster. On your third turn, Megaman will be tempted with the mighty Dark Chips. He’ll be offered two Dark Swords. Slot them in and unleash their power on Shademan (just one will take him out but load both incase you miss). Also, since this is a storyline event and you have to use dark chips, Megaman won’t turn black or lose HP. When done, jack out. Congratulations, you saved the park. Also, the darkness in Megaman’s soul has finally awakened so from here on out you will be able to use Dark Chips when Megaman is taking a beating (when there is a grimace on Megaman’s face in the battle screen). Chaud shows up to clear up the matter and that’s over with. Now let’s prepare for the Hawk Tournament. By the way, after this chapter, never let anyone tell you that you don’t have any patience. {-Hawk Tournament (HTT)} Once again, we have to do something to get into the tourney. After the incident in Cielo, the screen turns black and fades out with Lan watching TV. A dude comes in and gives him one point. Here’s the deal: We have to go around the place and collect 50+ points to get into the tournament. Thankfully, you’re reading a walkthrough that will tell you the locations of all the points. Note, getting more than the required fifty doesn’t do anything special as far as I know. ACDC 1- Mayl’s Teddy bear 1- Chip shelf in Higsby’s shop 2- Dex’s Gamecube 1- Yai's Giraffe (Left) 1- Yai's Window Town1-3 1- PET store door sign 1- Trash box behind fence 1- Guy hiding near topmost exit 1- Upper Town3, sound system computer Dentech Dome 1- Bicycles 1- Poster 1- a man slightly hidden by Takoyaki shop 1- inside the building, right, boy hidden behind screen 1- inside building, right side, blue double doors Cielo Castillo 1- Fountain 2- Lady slightly hidden by castle 2- Metal door, CC3 3- Old guy, hidden by ice cream cart, CC3 1- Ship display, CC3 2- Boy inside haunted house 10- First Navi inside the Dracula Robot. A round with viruses occurs. ACDC1 1- Green Program, by the purple security gate ACDC3 4- Green Navi, top right of the area for 3000z City1 2- the invisible navi under a walkway near the exit to City2 City2 5- Orange Navi past top warp point-trade for a Cannon C City3 3- Green Program in merchant’s area Park2 3 - Pink Navi after warp point before exit to Park Area 3 Now, if you got all of that you should have about 55 points. Go to CC2 and talk to the official in front of the entrance and he’ll give you access to the Hawk Tournament. The tournament takes place inside that castle so go inside it. There will be a cutscene and you’ll see the tournament line-up and whom you’re up against. Here are the possible paths for the tournament and their likely slot and order in which you’ll do them. Also, bring patience with you as, from here on out, most rounds will start out with cutscenes. 1.Fiery Competition. 1.Cookin n’ stuff. 2.Who programmed that VCR? 2.Why would you save your opponent? 3.Boulder bash. (BM) 3.Gauntlet of nature. (BM) 3.Split personalities. (RS) 3.We finally get to fight her! (RS) {*Fiery Competition-Burnerman (FCB)} Well, you’re up against Burnerman. Mr. Match walks in and is followed by a dude who I’m going to call “Atsuki”, as I’m not sure about the translation for his first name. Looks like the two hate each other, and both of them say that their navi is better than the other. Why can’t we just beat our opponents for once? After they are done squabbling, exit Cielo, you’ll get an email saying something’s wrong. So go to ACDC town and go home to talk to Lan’s mom. She gives Lan a water gun, honestly. What is with these key items in this game, can’t they just call them water data, air data, etc? Anyway, go into Lan’s room and jack in. Ok, this time it’s Aquaman’s path, but just the opposite. Instead, the Internet is bursting into flames do to a giant battle between Torchman and Burnerman. So your path is blocked, so try the water gun. As you can see, it’s a dud. So go to Higsby’s shop and talk to the man himself. He’ll give Mega a buster upgrade that acts as a fire extinguisher. He’ll tell you how to use it as well. Now go back home and press A on the PC. Back to Megaman, press A at the fire and the gauge will fill. When it’s ready press A/B and away goes the fire. Continue through ACDC Internet and extinguish fires as you go. Make sure that the gauge is relatively full before you try to take a fire out, if you don’t manage to beat a fire the first time, it gets stronger, also it will burn Megaman and he’ll lose a bit of HP. Once you’ve gotten all of the fires along the main path, everything returns to normal. I think that they should start to pay Lan for his heroics. When you are done, head to Cielo Castillo. As you walk into the Castillo, the cart will start to smoke. Great, now Burnerman and Torchman are fighting in the Park Internet. So make your way through the Park areas and extinguish the fires. At the end of Park3, you’ll see Burnerman and Torchman fighting next to a giant fire. To take out this fire you need one fully loaded shot, so let the gauge fill up and press A as soon as it does. Then there is a cutscene where fires continually sprout up, then Burnerman goes off and Mr. Match gets mad at you for interrupting, then logs out Torchman. The fires then stop. Well, now that that’s over with, head to Cielo and go in and up to the top. You’ll be fighting at the battle arena that Lan and Mayl saw earlier. Now you just need to beat up Burnerman for wasting our time like that. Burnerman HP: 700 Element: Fire Attacks: Gas Flame: Burnerman shoots out a jet of blue flame. Flame Charge: Burnerman puts a lit up hand down and charges at you. Strategy: Burnerman’s easy enough, and his attacks are almost impossible to be hit by unless you have horrible dodging ability. By now you should have a couple Bubble shot chips so use them. Also, if you’re playing Blue Moon, this battle’s a cinch as you will most likely have Aqua Soul by the time you get to this battle. The main problem in this battle is that there are torches rolling around on the field and they occasionally try to burn you. Just keep off of the column that they are on and you should be all right. Well you’re done, head over and see who’s up next. {*Cooking n’ stuff- Normal navi (CNS)} After you see who’s next, a cutscene takes place and a chef comes in. He talks a bit and then leaves. After he does so, head over to CC3. The chef is showing off a cooking machine, an old man volunteers to try the curry and some weird stuff happens. After the cutscene, go to CC2, you’ll get an email from the chef and the “chef’s key”. Well, you heard him, go jack into the cart and make your way to Park2. Find the blue gate and unlock it. Go through and talk to the navi. He’ll talk about a cooking dojo. So move on and move onto the yellow thing, then press A. Get ready for a mini game. Press the B button to cut the vegetables. But don’t cut the Red ones. Occasionally a Metaur will pop up. Press A to knock it back. Once you get good enough, you can continue. So head to Park3 and go to the area where you restarted Cielo’s rides. Talk to the navi there and you’ll fight some viruses. Nothing special. After you beat him go back to the Cooking place and talk to the navi. Now jack out and go to CC3. There’s a second machine now. Lan automatically jacks in. There’s another mini game here. It’s the same thing as before. If you don’t do good enough, the guy will taste Lan’s curry and you’ll get thrown back into the mini game. If you do well, the man tries the chef’s curry first and explodes (What is with this curry? First the guy’s soul comes out of his body, then he explodes?). The chef gloats, then the man tries Lan’s curry and sees the spirit of his dead wife (what the heck!?). The dude declares Lan the best. Now that that’s over, go into the Castillo and to the arena. The chef uses a normal navi, a couple bombs, a sword occasionally, and a bit more HP than usual. Also, he’s trigger-happy with a Mega-Cannon. It’s nothing special. When you win, go and see who’s up next. {*Who programmed that VCR?-Videoman (WPV)} This is a slightly annoying, yet relatively short section of the tournament. Your opponent is Videoman, after you have looked at the tournament line up, a lady drops from the ceiling (whoa, what’s up with that?) and greets you. The name is Narushi Hide, (I’ll just be calling her Naru in this chapter) and her navi is Videoman. And she wants Megaman to meet up with Videoman. Let’s stupidly walk into another trap, shall we? Well you have to so stop arguing and get on with it. Jack into the cart outside and go to the end of Park1 where Megaman will meet up with Videoman. You will see a cutscene where Videoman shows off his power (you still don’t have anything on a DVD, man) and messes around with Megaman’s motor functions. Then he uses a playback command that forces Megaman to walk in reverse. Three tape rolls appear and fly off to Park3, City2, and ACDC2. Videoman then logs out. We need to get those tapes back, but first, a little note. Just to be a pain and delay us from beating him at the tourney, he didn’t take the playback off of Megaman. So up moves Megaman down and right moves him left. It’s not too hard to get used to though. Now, since we’re already in the Park Internet, make your way to Park3. When you get there, you’ll notice some funky panels on the ground. Those are rewind panels. If Megaman walks on one time gets rewound and you’ll find yourself at the beginning of the area. It’s a good idea to just save in the middle of every few panels and just restart your game (Start+Select+A+B) if you land on one of the panels. The tape is around the switch that controls the rides. When you get the tape, just use a rewind square and you’ll be sent back to the start, so you won’t have to go all the way through, by the way, touching squares doesn’t make you lose your tapes. Now make your way to City, more rewind switches. The tape is on the lower level, so use the warp. Once you get it, go to ACDC2. This time the tape is on the weird path that leads to Dex’s PC. After you have all three, Megaman’s functions will be back to normal. After the cutscene, go to the arena. Naru thought she’d win after Lan doesn’t show up, but she’s wrong. So go smack down Videoman and prove once and for all that DVD’s are the best! Videoman HP: 800 Element: None Attacks: Tape Smasher: Videoman drops a giant 2*2 roll of tape. Panels flash yellow where it’s about to land. Replay: Videoman produces a replay of Megaman, who will use a random, low-level chip. Strategy: Videoman’s attacks are easy enough to get past. The annoying parts are his special abilities. First, there are two rolls of tape that take up the front two columns of each side of the field. They can be blasted apart with the Megabuster, but they regenerate. Thankfully they don’t hurt you if you’re standing in front when they regenerate. Next, throughout this battle Videoman will glow various colours. When he’s green he’s normal, when he’s red he’s fast-forwarding himself, so you have to put up with him being twice as fast, and when he’s blue his HP slowly heals. This is an annoying battle, and the tapes block most attacks, but note that they won’t destroy objects placed in them, so you can place mines, count bombs, etc. in them. I recommend lobbing bombs at him, and, since he doesn’t have any way to destroy them, using mines and count bombs. When you’re done, leave and see who’s up next. {*Why would you save your opponent?-Bad navi (purple) (YSY)} I know, I did say that I wanted to fight normal navis in the MMBN3 boards, but all these normal navis in a tournament; it’s starting to get boring. I miss the custom navis. Anyway, after you see that you’re up against him, your opponent, Riki walks in and introduces Crusher, his navi. He then leaves. Exit Cielo for a cutscene between him and an old lady he calls Boss. They argue and she leaves, Lan then asks if everything is alright. It turns out Riki is dealing with the Mafia. It also turns out that Crusher has been kidnapped. Anyway, go to CC3 and see Boss talking to some hooligans. Now lets tick off the Mafia! Go jack into the cart in CC2. Now here’s the deal: All throughout the Park Internet, there are bad navies walking around guarding. Your job is to slip past them. As long as a navi isn’t facing you directly, he can’t see you. So sneak by and use your stealth and timing skills. Make your way to the end of Park3, where the control switch is. Crusher is trapped in a giant energy cage, and, as always, Megaman will shoot the heck out of it and make a bunch of noise in the process. You get into an easy fight. When you win, Megaman logs out. Now talk to Riki. The Mafia dudes show up and Boss knocks them out. What the heck is up with these people, can’t we just fight a normal tournament round? Anyway, now that that’s over go and steamroll Crusher at the arena. He’s a bit faster than most navis. So use chips with reach. Also, by now you should have enough sword chips to do a LifeSword PA so use it. He’ll occasionally summon a low level virus, so beat it and then resume focus on him. When you when go see who you are up against next. {*Boulder bash-Metalman (blue moon) (BBB)} After you see that you’re up against Metalman, his operator, Tamako, shows up. She talks a bit then leads Lan outside. Go to CC3 and you’ll see her standing next to a big boulder. She thinks she can smash it, but fails (I wonder why). She gives you data to open a security gate, and goes off. Now jack in somewhere. Make your way to City2. Take the warp to the bottom bit and use the data given by Tamako to open the gate on the top left. Go through. You’ll find yourself in City4. Continue and you’ll find a navi. He wants you to get something for him. So jack out and jack in somewhere in the Park and make your way to Park2. You’ll find a purple navi who will do some blubbering and then trade his Virus Koshoi for a Spreadshot L. Now go to the higher bit of Park1 and you will see a green navi moving fast about the path. He wants to sell you a Dennou Surume (the translation for this is weird so I’m not putting it in the walkthrough) for 500z. Now go back to City4 and talk to the navi. He now wants you to destroy a boulder. These people are crazy. So let the mini game start. You get twenty seconds to destroy three boulders. To destroy a boulder, run up to it and press A, then when the cursor is in the middle, press B and the boulder will break up. Destroy all of them and talk to the navi before time runs out. Megaman will log out. Now go to Cielo and jack into the ice cream cart. Talk to Metalman when you get there. The mini game starts up again. This time we have 60 seconds, and it’s for competition, destroy more boulders than he does. Then silver and black boulders get put in the mix, I recommend going for the black ones, they go fast and you can therefore score points faster. After you beat him 3 times. It’s over. Now go to the arena and beat him. Metalman HP: 800 Element: Normal Attacks: Gear Move: Metalman will change what row the gears roll along every now and then. Metal Blade1: Metalman shoots a spinning razor blade at you. Metal Blade2: Metalman shoots a spinning razor blade out, it goes around the field. Strategy: Metalman, like some of the other older navis, has been dumbed down. In this game most of his attacks have been taken away, so he’s basically just like a Boomerang virus with more HP. The gears on the field make the battle slightly more annoying, and your fighting on metal panels, so you can’t tear up the field. I recommend wide reach attacks like LifeSword as projectiles and objects will be interrupted by gears and other attacks are hard to land. Other than that it’s an easy win. Congratulations, you have won the Hawk Tournament and gained the Metal Soul. But this chapter isn’t over yet. Lan gets his trophy and starts to leave, but then hears screams from the crowd, head back and jack into the battle console. Laserman is waiting for you. There will be a cutscene in which Laserman calls up your Dark Soul and sticks it into Aquaman/Gutsman. Time for another fight. Aquaman DS HP: 800 Element: Water Attacks: Attacks: The same attacks that the normal navi has. Chip: They can use a random battle chip. Strategy: The battle is easy; they use the same attacks as their normal self and occasionally use low-level chips. After the cutscenes the screen fades to white. OK, now you’re done! {*Gauntlet of nature-Woodman (blue moon) (GON)} This, like some of the previous chapters, is basically just to test your timing. But more on that later. Also, there is a bug in emulator backups, so if you’re playing on the emulator, your game will lock up on you after you change screens and then change back, so if you use the start menu, NaviCust, Subchips, or enter a battle, it locks up. After you look at who you’re up against next, you get an email from Woodman’s operator, Saloma. Go to ACDC Park and talk to her. Lan gets hungry so the two have a picnic. After the picnic, there will be a cutscene and Saloma leaves due to an email. Follow her to lower Town3. There will be a cutscene. After it’s done, go to the Dome. Go to the battle arena and you’ll see an old man jack into the battle console. Jack in and beat up the green navi in the corner. It’s an easy battle. After a cutscene you get email saying that Woodman is in Park Internet. That’s not good. Go to CC and talk to Saloma, who’s near the castle. A cutscene then shows Woodman by the attraction control switch. After it’s done, jack into the cart and go through Park1 making your way to Park2. While you’re doing so, there will be a cutscene where a yellow hole appears before Megaman and a wood tower flies out of it. From here on the paths are booby trapped and wood towers will systematically shoot up, knocking Megaman back and nipping his HP if you get hit. It’s annoying but not impossible to get through. So make your way to the end of Park3 and talk to Woodman. The big oaf didn’t think that Saloma cared about him anymore. After the cutscene you automatically jack out. Now that everything is over, head to the arena and torch Woodman. To bad you can’t fight him on Red Sun, it would be fun to roast him with Heat Soul. Woodman HP: 1000 Element: Wood Attacks: Seed Gun: Woodman fires three seeds at you. Wood Tower: Woodman leaps into the air and lands. After that, panels flash yellow on your field and wood towers shoot up from them. This happens 1-3 times and is painful if you don’t get out of the way. Strategy: This battle can be annoying if you don’t play things smart. First of all, during this battle 1*2 logs will constantly roll at you. If you want to make things easy, put a rock cube up on the farthest part you can in the middle row. It will stop the logs (note: you can shoot through the cube and it wont damage the cube). One cube will likely be able to stop the logs for the whole battle. Other than that, Woodman is easy. Congratulations, you have won the Hawk Tournament and gained the Wood Soul. {*Split Personalities- Windman (red sun) (SPW)} Someone in red walks in after you look at the line up. He has another long name that I don’t want to type over and over again. So I will be calling him by his last name, Ran. And he’s a schizo. They talk a bit and Lan walks off. Meanwhile Ran’s evil side takes over and Windman gets freaked out. After the cutscenes and some screaming, head down to CC3 and you’ll see Ran staring down the Dracula robot. When you can, jack into the robot and head to the end where you fought Shademan. There will be a virus there so take it out and jack out. Lan wanders off so when you get back in control of him try to leave the park, and you’ll be stopped by a cutscene in which Lan’s PET falls into the fountain. Thankfully everything seems ok with the PET. Go home and talk to Lan’s mom. He will then start eating. Afterwards, the doorbell rings. It’s normal Ran. He says that Windman has gone loco in the Internet and then gives you a Grass Flute. Go back to CC and jack into the caravan to get on the Park Internet. It looks like Windman is tearing up the Internet with high-speed winds. Also, you’ll notice that in battles you get blown around a bit as well. So here’s the deal: There are several tornados moving around, so you need to get to the switch in Park3 by avoiding them. Every now and then you will see something blow by. Also, if you get caught in a twister you are blown back to the start of the area. Once you get there, Megaman plays the grass flute and calms Windman down. After you jack out, go back to CC and talk to Ran. It’s over, and he lets you go first. So head on to the arena (meanwhile Ran’s bad side takes over again). Windman HP: 800 Element: Normal Attacks: Bird Friends: Every now and then a couple birds will fly into you and attack. Fan Boomerang: Windman launches a pair of these at you. They head straight for you and they home in on you. They can turn once. Twister: Windman summons a couple of Twisters. Strategy: Windman himself is relatively easy, except he tends to smack you with birds when you are dodging his Fan Boomerang, or vice-versa. Also his Twisters pretty much dominate your front column. Meanwhile, there is alternately blowing wind throughout the entire battle. I recommend trapping him with some area grabs, then destroying a row of panels in front of you, that will stop him from moving around so much and it will annihilate his Twisters. Then smack him with some widespread chips like LifeSword and the VarSword wave. Congratulations, you have won the Hawk Tournament and gained the Wind Soul. Gutsman DS HP: 800 Element: Normal Attacks: Attacks: The same attacks that the normal navi has. Chip: They can use a random battle chip. Strategy: The battle is easy; they use the same attacks as their normal self and occasionally use low-level chips. After the cutscenes the screen fades to white. OK, now you’re done! {*We finally get to fight her! Roll, pink (red sun) (WFF)} After the cutscenes, Yai will call you. Something has happened to Roll, so jack into the cart and get to Park1. When there, go down the ramp and talk to Glyde (he’s the brownish navi who looks kind of like an airplane). Now head to Park3, you will see Roll on a platform surrounded by a couple of metaurs and a green navi. After the cutscenes, jack out, then go to ACDC town and jack in somewhere. Then, on the internet, head for ACDC2. Go up to the netmerchant and you will see the green navi from before. You get into a battle, so beat him up. When you win, you get the Room Key. Now jack out and go back to CC, jack into the cart, and go to the lower level of Park3. Open the gate there with the Door Key and there will be a cutscene where Megaman rushes in to save the day, only to find out that Roll has charmed the metaurs docility. So jack out and go into the Castillo as if you mean to enter the arena. You will get an email from Mayl asking you to come to her house. Go there and jack into the teddy bear. Get ready for another mini game. This time Roll teleports around the area and you have to play tag. After you catch her three times, the game is over and she goes to the arena. So follow her there and get ready for the battle. Roll HP: Element: Normal Attacks: Heart arrow: Roll shoots a heart-tipped arrow at you. Roll barrage: Roll teleports in front of you and whacks you a couple of times with those funky ribbons on her head. Charmed virus: Roll will summon a random virus into battle to attack you. Strategy: She is slightly annoying, her heart arrow and roll barrage are easily taken care of, but the viruses she summons can be a pain, so take them out as fast as possible. Since she teleports around the arena, tear up her field or tie her down with area grabs. Congratulations, you have won the Hawk Tournament and gained the Roll Soul. Gutsman DS HP: 800 Element: Water/Normal Attacks: Attacks: The same attacks that the normal navi has. Chip: They can use a random battle chip. Strategy: The battle is easy; they use the same attacks as their normal self and occasionally use low-level chips. After the cutscenes the screen fades to white. OK, now you’re done! {-Don’t you just love foreign countries? (DLF)} After the Hawk tournament, you should have gotten another ANSA cutscene. After the string of cutscenes, you should get the airline ticket after an official navi asks you to participate in the Red Sun/Blue Moon Tournament (depending on which version you’re playing). After everything is done with, find Lan’s Mom and talk to her, then head over to the Metroline and select the newest option, the airport. When you choose it you will get another option, this time showing you a world map. Right now you can only fly into Europe, so do so. Once there, you get an email from a net battler group (WNB). Walk west and go up a bit until you run into a statue with a guy standing by it. He’ll tell you that he’s from the WNB and that he’s supposed to help you settle in for the tournament. He also gives you a net passport (remember that pink navi in ACDC2? Now you can get past her when you need to). If you go back and go into the alley to the right of the Metroline you will eventually wind up at the Colosseum, where your battles will take place. Now, head up a bit from the hotel (the path to the left of the Metroline) and you will see a waitress and an old man. Talk to the waitress and she will offer you a meal for 1000 zenny, keep saying no until you get it down to 250 z. Then talk to the man and beat his viruses. When you are done go back to the tour guide and talk to him, he will proceed to lead you to the colosseum (you might have to talk to everyone in Europe first). While Lan is walking along, a mad car driver kidnaps him and the next thing you know, you’re stuffed in a hotel room. {-Red Sun/Blue moon tourney (RSBMT)} Look around the room and examine the statue at the left wall, you will find a jack in port and automatically jack in. You are now on the hotel’s HP, so go talk to the green program, get the passcode from him, and proceed out and into the European Internet (which I will be calling Euro). Now, here is the deal, to get out of the room you need to find 4 Key Data that are spread around Euro. Now, something about the Internet here: All of the foreign countries Internet is linked to each other through Euro, there aren’t any Euro1, 2,3, etc, because Euro leads right to other countries’ Internet. For now, you only need to be on Euro, so stay on it since all of the key data are in it. The weird boxes that are lying around are the Key Data. Here is a list of where the Key Data are. (Also, note that you have to fight viruses in the Key Data.): A: At the exit up the ramp at the North of the area. B: To the right of the area, by the exit. C: Around the bottom exit. D: At the left of the Area. When you have all of the Data, jack out and unlock the door. The kidnapper and the tour guide enter. They were both part of the WNB, it turns out that they were just testing you. After the scenes, head over to the Colosseum and enter. Go up the stairs and talk to the Mouth of Truth (the face bust on the wall). You will then see the tournament line up. Here are the possible paths: 1.What happened to the river? 1.Kendo Training. 2.Footbomb 2.Blizzards in Russia. 3.Take out the Trash (BM) 3.Darkness Rising (BM) 3.Pride of the Clan (RS) 3.The ultimate sniper (RS) There it is, the last tournament before you are declared the Ruler of the –I mean the top net battler. By the way, here is a basic layout of the foreign countries’ Internet: Euro is the central area, Rus is the top, north exit from Euro, Afri is the rightmost exit from Euro, and Thai is the bottom exit from Euro. {*What happened to the river?-bad navi (purple) (WHR)} After you see whom you are up against, a kid named Porepore walks up and asks you to come to Africa. When you get there, go examine the tent things and you will find an item. Then go up and talk to Porepore. Jack into the tiki statue next to him and go to the end of the Homepage. Talk to the orange navi there and beat his viruses. Afterwards, you get the Passcode for the African Internet (Which I will call Afri). Take the warp and proceed into Afri. Go to the centre of the area where you will find a group of navis standing in front of a large statue. Porepore’s navi, Jua, approaches you and introduces you to the group. Afterwards, the statue flies off. Now you need to find it, but fear not, for you are reading a walkthrough. So go back into Euro and into Rus (the Russian Internet). You should be in an area with tons of mover paths. Look around and you will eventually find the statue. Go up to it and press A to take it and then go back to the centre of Afri and return it. After a cutscene Megaman is jacked out. Well, you know what that music means, something is wrong! The river has dried up and we will now return it, for you are St. Lan of Hikari, ok, it needs work. Anyway, after the cutscenes you get the Lion key, so go and jack into the tiki statue again. Once in Afri, explore the place until you find a pair of gates lined up, go up to them and Press A. You will eventually get a couple of questions. The first answer is the one with 4, then the one with 2, then 60, then the middle choice, and finally, 22. You then get into a fight with a couple of viruses, so beat them up and proceed. Press A on the blue thing and you’ll get the Restoration of Water (good grief, can’t Capcom come up with a good name just once!). Once you get it, jack out, and then go down the slope, and across the rocks that lead to the statue on the other side of the river. Go up to the statue and jack in. Now, this place is very annoying, yet easy, however, I finally had the time to put together a guide through this maze-like place. So here’s the deal: You are in a virtual area with a small, homepage sized area, and several warp gates. What you do is simple; take the warp gates until you get to your destination, however, the warp gates are all over the place and it’s easy to get lost. By the way, occasionally you will come across dead navis, whose ghosts will rise and attack you for some reason. So, either stumble blindly across the rooms, or use my guide. However, my guide leads you through rooms, so you will have to constantly press start screen to see what room you are in. Now for the layout of the rooms: Each room has about 3 warps lined up in the same pattern, there is one to the side (which I will be calling “middle” warp), and two along the same side of the area, which are “top” and “bottom” warp. To use this guide effectively, you must make sure you have just jacked in and are at the start, and follow the guide exactly, it works: I’ve tested it about eight times. So here’s the guide: I=in/go through/take/go into o=out of/come out at/arrive in-where you should have come out at after taking the warp at I-. Area # (A#)=What area you are in. Jack in- 1. o-Arrive in the middle warp of A#1. 2. I-the top warp in A#1. 3. o-the top warp into A#6. 4. i-the middle warp in A#6. 5. o-the bottom warp into A#4. 6. i-the top warp in A#4. 7. o-the middle warp into A#13. 8. i-the top warp in A#13. 9. o-the middle warp into A#2. 10. i-the bottom warp in A#2. 11. o-the bottom warp into A#10. 12. i-the top warp in A#10. 13. o-the top warp into A#8. In this area (A#8), you should see a group of 5 dead navis. 14. i-the bottom warp in A#8 15. o-the only warp into A#16. If that guide is to complex for you or you just don’t want to press start to check what area you’re in all the time, then I will lead you through the easy way: Now, jack in, the take the top warp, then take the middle warp, then take the top warp, then take the top warp, then take the bottom warp, then take the top warp, then take the bottom warp and you should now be in an area with a program-like machine at the end. If this didn’t work, you are either horribly wrong (I tested this like 8 times.), or you are playing Red Sun (I did this guide off of Blue Moon, so Red Sun might be different, I haven’t tested it on Red Sun yet). Also, if you are reading this walkthrough and have a shorter way (takes less than 7 warps), then please submit it to this walkthrough and I will give you credit. You should now be in a room with a weird machine. Go up to the machine and beat up the viruses in it. When you are done, Megaman will install the program and the water will come back. So jack out and go over to the Ostrich and press A (funny this, in each area your mode of transport is different, and to get out of Africa, you get to fly an Ostrich, there is something wrong with Capcom). So go back to Europe and go into the Colosseum and into the arena to face Jua. He’s the typical generic navi, so wipe the floor with him. When done, go look at the tournament line up to see who’s up next. {*Kendo training-Kendoman, has a fencing mask (KTK)} Ah, Kendo, the way of the Sword. After you see that you are up against Fencerm-I mean, Kendoman (But there is a big chance that the English version of the game will have him listed as something like “swordman” or “fencerman”), his operator, Mr. Famous walks up and talks a bit about some mishaps in Africa. As he talks, a blonde dude watches. When the scenes are over, go back to the metroline and fly to Africa. When you get there, talk to the two guys and then go up the slope and jack into the tiki statue. Go to the end of the homepage and talk to the orange navi; beat his viruses to get the passcode from him. Then proceed into Afri Internet. Explore the area until you find a navi dressed up like a Kendo trainer. For all you English-speaking guys, just look for a navi with a kendo mask (it’s kind of like a fencing mask) on. Talk to him and a cutscene will occur in which Kendoman will tell Megaman to call him Sensei. Hai! He then gives you a bamboo stick (in the English version this might be replaced with an actual sword) and tells you that you must train. Mini-game time. For those of you who like mini-games, you will love this round of the tournament, as it is based on a Kendo mini-game. Now, go through the exit to Euro Internet and then go south and enter Thai Internet. You will see a navi lying on the ground. So continue on, eventually you will find a practice dummy holding a Kendo bamboo rod. Press A on it to start the mini game. Here is how it works: The kendo dummy moves in different poses, and occasionally attacks you. You win if you deplete his health in the time limit. It’s not hard, and the game is actually kind of fun once you get into it. Below is a key of how to attack and when to attack that way. Left+A –block. Time the block right after you see the dummy say a large bubble of words. Up+A –high attack. When his bamboo rod is down. Down+A –low attack. When his bamboo rod is up. Right+A –side attack. When his bamboo rod is sideways. When you beat him he gives you a certificate. Now go back to Euro and beat the new Kendo dummy there. He is at the top of the ramp at the north bit of the area. Beat him to get the second certificate and continue on up to Rus Internet. Find the third dummy and beat him. After he gives you the third certificate, go back to Afri Internet and show your certificates to Kendoman Sensei. After the cutscene Megaman jacks out. Now fly the ostrich (honestly) back to Europe and go to the Colosseum and enter the arena. When you get there, Famous doesn’t show up. Being the good guy, Lan wants to find him. So go back to Africa and a cutscene will occur in which Mr. Famous gets beaten up, and lions are attacking some people across the river. Now, go up and over the bridge to the lion head statue. Jack into it. Once inside you will notice that there are several giant antennae. These are controlling the lions. So go up to each of them in turn, press A, and then beat up the viruses inside them. When done, jack out. Everything is back to normal. When the cutscenes are over, head to the Colosseum again and into the arena. Time to face Kendoman. Kendoman HP: Element: Normal Attacks: Shadow Jab: Kendoman rushes at you with a cool shadow effect. Shadow Clone: Kendoman makes some clones to attack you. Panels flash yellow to indicate the attack. Kendo Slash: Kendoman slashes you. Strategy: He can be annoying if you let him get to you. Like some other navis in this game, it seems as though his attacks have been mixed with some other old navis. Kendoman is basically just Shadowman with a bamboo stick instead of ninja stars. To avoid shadow jab, just stay out of the row he’s on, and he only uses Kendo slash if you are right in front of him, so just stay out of the front column. The shadow clones are annoying, but with some timing you will be able to avoid him. He moves to much for you to use concentrated attacks like Gun del Sol, and his attacks are to dangerous for you to just stay still, so try using widespread attacks or smacking him as he rushes in with a shadow jab. Also, use Guts or Aqua soul unison, as their busters will pretty much stuff his attacks. Ha! Student become teacher. Walkthrough writer use cheap accent and Hollywood movie lingo with bad grammar! Anyway, Famous leaves and Kendoman says he’s proud of his student, Megaman. So go look at who’s up next. {*Footbomb-normal navi (FBB)} After looking at the tourney line up, a guy in pink walks in and talks about a new game called Footbomb. After he leaves, exit the building and go into the hotel room (where you were locked in) and jack into the statue. Head to the entrance to Afri Internet and you will see an orange navi. Trade a Guard A chip for his Bomb Shoes. You then get an email from Jack Bomar (what is with the cheap names Capcom?). He wants you to jack into the statue. So jack out and go outside, find the headless statue, and jack in. Walk up and talk to the green navi there. He will give you three options, one starts the Footbomb mini-game, a second tells you how to play, and a third declines his offer to let you play. So enter the game. Here is how it works: It is really simple; the controls are the same for the goalkeeper and the kicker. To block/aim and kick (depending on what position you are), you either press Left+A, A, or Right+A to block/aim Left, Forward, and Right. After a while you will get used to it. Also, as you may have noticed, it’s basically soccer with a bomb, and if you fail to kick/block the bomb, it blows and takes a chunk out of your HP. Finally, a good way to cheat at this game is to simply load tons of HP+ Navicust programs before the game, it doesn’t matter if they bug you, it won’t effect your game, just remember to take them off before you do any virus busting. When you are done, the navi logs out of the area and says something about a wider area. Now, jack out and jack into the Internet somewhere and get onto Afri Internet. Once in Afri Internet, find the green navi. There will be a short cutscene and then both navis automatically jack out. Now go to the Colosseum, find the racing chariot statue out in front, and then jack in. Go up to the green navi and talk to him for another game of Footbomb. This time there is a bigger bomb; also, it does 600 damage to your HP if it blows. When you beat him (it will take about two or three shots), both navis jack out again. Fight time (that was short huh?). So go up through the Colosseum and into the arena. He’s easy, so smack him down. Once you win simply exit and look at who’s next. {*Blizzards in Russia, or wherever-Coldman (BIN)} After you see the tournament line up, Coldman’s op, Ivan, walks in, and then a scientist comes in and informs you that Coldman has gone nuts. So exit the building and go into the hotel room and jack into the statue on the left wall. Walk around Euro Internet until you find Coldman with three snowmen. After a short scene Coldman logs out. Jack out and exit the hotel. There is some white stuff blowing by rather rapidly. You will get an email saying that a blizzard that has originated from Russia is pummelling Europe. Thank you for stating the obvious Capcom. Now go to the metroline and fly to the new place, Russia. It is a mazelike town covered in snow. Go to the far end of the town and enter the space centre. You will see a scientist on the floor, so go talk to him to find out that the space centre’s antennae are causing the blizzard. Here’s what’s going on: Coldman’s snowmen are in the antennae/satellite things. So what you will do is go to each of the satellites and take care of them. However, there are two problems. First, there will be a heat gauge, showing how warm Lan is, that will constantly drop (except when you are battling or inside). If it reaches zero, Lan freezes and you start over. To avoid this, simply do the satellite thing as fast as possible, then head inside the space centre to warm up after each antennae. Second problem is that there is a snowdrift in front of every antennae. So first we will get what we need to clear the snow. Go up to any snowdrift and examine it, when done, go to the first house you saw when you arrived and inspect it to find a snow shovel. Now go back inside and warm up. I advise you do the snowdrifts in order from the farthest away from the station to the shortest. After you warm up, find a snowdrift and examine it to start a minigame. This one is easy; all you do is press B like crazy until the snow is all shovelled. After you shovel the snow at an antennae, jack in and beat up the snowmen you find in it. After you delete them, you will see a torch in the area, to light the torches, you need to give them a Fire element chip of certain letters. Also, the game won’t let you light a torch unless you have two of the chips in your folder. Chips that are good to light the torches are Heat Breath K, Black Bomb Z, Heat Shot C, and Flame Line F. Once you light every torch in the antennae, the scientist emails to let you know things are fine, and then Coldman emails, mad at you for ruining his plans. Now that that’s done, head back to Europe’s Colosseum and into the arena. Time to defeat Coldman. Here are his boss stats: Coldman HP: 800 Element: Water Attacks: Ice Cube: Coldman summons three Ice Cubes, and eventually pushes them, sending them sliding across the area. Ice Cloud: Coldman opens up and two freezing clouds come out and float your way. Ice Pound: Coldman jumps up and lands in your arena, cracking any tiles he lands on. Strategy: If you have Junk Soul or Elec Soul from a previous play, smoke him with electric attacks or use Junk Soul’s power to lob his own Ice Cubes at him. The ice clouds are easily avoided and can be destroyed just by shooting them a couple times with your buster. As for the Ice Pound, dodge it or suffer. His attacks aren’t to dangerous, if he’s about to slide an ice cube toward you, just get off of the row you’re on. The Ice cubes prove annoying as they both protect Coldman and provide him with ammunition for an attack. Don’t waste time trying to destroy them, instead just dodge them if they come at you. Since he summons a lot of Ice Cubes, use attacks like Spreader (If you have the chips needed for a spreader PA, smoke him), count bombs, hand bombs, and my favourite for this battle, Lance chips as they all bypass his cubes. Once you find ways to get past his cubes, it’s an easy battle. Also, note that he occasionally forms a 1 HP bubble around himself. After the cutscenes head out and see who you fight next. {*Take out the trash-Junkman (blue moon) (TOT)} Well, your opponent is Junkman, and he actually looks kind of cool. After seeing the tournament line up, a purple-haired Official lady walks in; informing you that something is weird in Thailand. So exit and go to the newly open Thailand via the metroline. Now, there are different parts of this area, so I will be referring to them as T1, lower T2, and upper T2. Right now upper T2 isn’t accessible so just go up past the man and into lower T2. Go find the set of statues with a kid in front of them and jack in. Go up and find a navi that will sell you the passcode for 6000z. Now, if you don’t have the money there are two things you can do. First, you can just get the money needed and pay the guy for the passcode, or you can use a temporary entrance for now and use the entrance from ACDC2. However, you will need to be able to use this path later on in the game, so you might as well just pay the guy. Now, once you get inside Thailand Internet (which I will be calling Thai), explore the place a little and you will come across some giant trash piles blocking some paths. Talk to the navi that is around them and you will get a Landfill Key. Go over to the gate you see and unlock it with the key, a cutscene will occur in which Megaman dodges tons of falling trash piles until he gets trapped and knocked out by a trash pile. When you can, press L a couple times as Lan and talk to Megaman. After a while, he will ask you a couple questions, when you answer right, he will reveal himself as Junkman. Somehow, Junkman is trapped in Megaman’s body (this causes Megaman to be confused, so he starts battles confused and while walking, right is left and vice versa) so you need to get back to Megaman, who’s still buried under the Trash. So jack in and go back to the piles, to clear the ones in your way, just press A and you will get into a battle. After beating the viruses, the pile will clear. Keep going until you get to the end and there will be a cutscene in which spirits swap back to their original bodies and Megaman jacks out. Now, go all the way to T1 and go up to the upper bit where a lady is blocking the path. Talk to her and she will let you past (only if you have talked to everyone in Thailand). Continue on and you will find yourself in upper T2, on the platform with the giant statue. Go up and jack into her head. Talk to the green program inside and he’ll talk a bit about the statue, then he will give you the kindness data. Also, there is 2000z in the BMD so grab it then jack out. Now we’re ready for the battle, so leave the area and go back to Europe and enter the Colosseum. There is a cutscene before the fight, and then it begins. By the way, this makes for an annoying battle, so I’d suggest that you load up some strong chips and PA’s and some HP+ programs, otherwise you might have to resort to Dark Chips. Junkman HP: 800 Element: Normal Attacks: Junk Levitation: Junkman will constantly levitate junk towards you. Screw Gun: Junkman will shoot some screws at you. The screws kind of home in on you. Bulldozer: Junkman pulls his person back a bit and then slides a huge bulldoze straight at you. Strategy: This is an annoying fight for sure. The trash flies at you almost all the time, however, shooting them slows them down. The Bulldozer attack is pretty painful and surprisingly fast. Due to the junk, I recommend chips that don’t go directly for him like bombs, spreaders, and a Lance or two. Also, PA’s with good reach like LifeSword are good. If you can’t beat him, don’t be miffed about having to use Dark Chips. Out of my 23 friends that played this game so far, only Andrew, Surai, and me have managed to beat him on our first try without using Dark Chips. This is possibly one of the most annoying battles in the game, and the fact that he has no elemental weakness to pick on makes it worse. When you win, you get Junk Soul, as well as a Big Trophy for winning the tournament. {*Darkness rising-Protoman, red guy with a visor (blue moon) (DRP)} After you see that you are up against Protoman, there will be a cutscene in which some guys come out of the arena and start talking about Protoman and his Dark Soul. After that, Chaud calls Lan. Now, leave the building and go to the hotel room. There will be another cutscene where Lan will talk with Chaud in the room. It turns out a group called Nebula has kidnapped Protoman and is letting his Dark Soul wreak havoc on the Internet. Eventually, some weird stuff happens and Chaud leaves. Lan then jacks into the statue. Another cutscene, this time in Under5 (Undernet5). Protoman is being held prisoner on the platform next to the sealed form of Bass. Then some more stuff and the cutscenes are over. Now, to reach the parts of the Undernet that you need, you will need a C-Slider. So lets get that first. Here are the locations of all the parts: Board: City2, on the lower part, a pink navi partly hidden by an overhead path. 2000z. Jet: City3, on the lowest level (reachable from the bottom right exit in Park1, so go to City3, then go on and into Park, and take the exit around the bottom right of area 1 and you will be at the very bottom of City3), a partly hidden green navi. 3000z. Wing: Thai Internet, under a sloping path, purple navi. 4000z. Arrange: When you have all of the C-Slider parts, go into Afri Internet and take the topmost exit and you should be in a part of Rus Internet. Go past the moving paths and down the ramp. There will be a navi in front of the Train Station. Talk to him and then go to the normal Rus Internet and take the topmost path until you get to a gate that will unlock for 500z. Go to the end and you will come across a girl navi, talk to her and she will put your parts together to make the C-Slider. Also, if you haven’t already, unlock the PMD there for a Blackbomb Z. Note that throughout this, you can’t leave the room, so if you need to get onto the non-international Internet, go through the second exit in Thai and you will be in ACDC2. Once you get the Slider, you will be able to move across those small paths on the Internet. After you have the Slider, go into the second part of Rus (from the exit in Afri). Chaud emails you the first time you go to Rus during this scenario telling you that Protoman is in Undernet, which you can reach from Rus. So go back to the path where you saw that navi from before and take it to Undernet. This place gets cooler and weirder every time. Walk in a bit for a cutscene, in which Chaud tells Lan to hand control of Megaman to him. After the scene, go through the twisting paths until you get to a warp. Take the warp and you will be at a big dark gate. After the scene, take the warp back to the start of the area and Chaud will say something about four bones, so go back up the path and you will find four bone teeth things around the part. Search around that area by pressing A until a cutscene is triggered. You will then get the red key. Now, go back and unlock the gate, and continue into Under2. There is another gate at the end of the area, this time it needs a Blue Key and Green Key to open it. First get the Blue Key. Head north until you come to a platform with orange corners and tons of little bone teeth things. It is somewhere around the corners, so just try going around the platform pressing A until you get it. Now for the Green Key, which is on an orange path where two moving paths are set up against each other on the way back to Under1. So just head back, find the area, the key is right by on of the mover paths. So, once you get the keys go all the way ahead and back to the second gate and unlock it. Now proceed into Under3. This place is annoying and there are tons of warps. The upper path leads to Under6, and the lower leads to Under4, and the warps just lead to more warps in Under3. Now, take the warps and go along the path through a gate, and then warp and go along the red path and up to the third dark gate. Now you need Yellow, White, and Black keys. Now, go back through the warps until you are back out of the upper warp. Head right and navigate around a path that is circling on of the paths that are between warps. You should eventually see a group of nine teeth bone things. The Yellow Key is around the fifth tooth. Now, for the White Key head back through to the lower warp points and at the upper left you will see six tooth things. Search around the spot between the grey corner and the orange tile ahead and you will get the White Key. Now for the Black Key. Take the upper warp and go left to the bottom of the platform you are on and search the edge of the orange corner until you get it. When you have all of the Keys, go back through the gate and into the next area (Under6), to MMBN2 veterans, this place should be familiar as the paths are the exact same as Under2 in MMBN2. Take the leftmost of the two paths and continue until you see some mover paths. Go to the side and take the mover paths and follow the broad path after it until you get to the bad navi that was torturing Protoman (he’s right before the exit on the path, you can’t miss him). Talk to him and beat him up. After you win, go on along the path after him into Under5. Once you’re in Under5, go right a little and follow the single path for a short cutscene. Then you start battling. After the 5 battles, the black navi lets Protoman go, who is still messed up from the Dark Chips, and deletes his captor, then goes to fight Megaman, who catches Proto’s sword. Then Megaman does a Full Synch and knocks Proto out. After the cutscenes, you automatically jack out. Now exit and go to the colosseum to face Lan’s long time rival and get one of the best souls if you haven’t already obtained it in the game. Protoman HP: 1600 Element: Normal Attacks: Shield: At just about any time Protoman can bring up a small shield. Area Grab: Protoman can use up to two area grabs. Herosword: Protoman does a weak Hero Sword (3*1) slash. Widesword: If you are ever in the front column, Protoman will come up and smack you with a 1*3 slash. Delta Ray Edge: On low HP, Protoman will make the screen darken (like when you use some navi chips), and he will slash three points with a sword, forming a V pattern, and then let off a giant blast. Strategy: As always, Protoman isn’t exactly hard, but he is very complex. The shield doesn’t come up much and you can get past by attacking him from the side or top with lances and bombs. Speed and evasion are your only hope in this fight. Hit him before he brings up his shield and memorize his attacks so that you can dodge them. He will try to trap you with an area grab or two eventually. Just stay out of the front column as long as you can. He has annoying attacks like the Herosword and Widesword, but they are dumbed down a bit so that they don’t kill you. Try to use long range, fast, or bypass attacks on him. Either that or try to stun him. Beat him as fast as possible otherwise he will start laying down a Delta Ray Edge. If you have any Air Puck chips, use them, also, if you have JKL, line em up and smoke him with Hyper Air Puck. Congratulations, you have beat one of the most complex and strong bosses in the game, and, if this is your first time beating Proto, have gained Proto Soul. Oh yeah, you also won the tournament. Yippee. After the scenes, a helicopter flies in and takes you away. {*Pride of the Clan-Thunderman (red sun) (PCT)} Oh man. Not him again…so many bad memories. You are up against Thunderman and Raul. After seeing the line up, a blonde guy walks in, talks a bit, and then leaves. Lan leaves and is blocked by an old man. So the chapter starts out with a scene and a battle. The crazy old coot fights you. Stomp him and watch the scene where he mentions something about Gillespie. Leave and go to the hotel room and jack into the statue. Find the netmerchant and you will see an orange, female navi by him. Talk to her and select the first option, then another fight. After the battle, something is wrong with Megaman. Then there are some cutscenes. Now head to the Colosseum. Raul is standing in front, so talk to him. He says that Gillespie is to blame for Megaman’s pain. After the scene, go back to the hotel room and jack in. Ok, here is the deal, Megaman has a virus, and as you go through the Internet, it sucks 10 HP about every two seconds. So this round is all about speed. Now, you have two things to get, the Courage and Strength proofs. Strength is around the exit to Afri Internet and Courage is on the lower bit of Rus. After that, go into Thai and get the Wisdom at the end and the Kindness, which is on the left part of the area. After you get all of them, go back into Euro and talk to Thunderman. He tells you that you need the voodoo doll. So go back to the Afri exit and go left until you get to a blue gate. It will open since you have all four proofs. Get the voodoo doll (which is causing your problems) and take it back to Thunderman, who destroys it (I’m not an expert, but shouldn’t this like, kill Megaman?). Now that everything is good, jack out and head to the Colosseum to beat up Thunderman. Short Chapter huh? Thunderman HP: 1200 Element: Electric Attacks: Electric Zap: Thunderman raises a hand and shocks anything in front of him. Lightning: Thunderman raises his arms and brings down three lightning bolts on you. Strategy: Thankfully, he only has two attacks. Also, instead of having three clouds in this game, he has one. But it is still annoying; if you are on the same row on it then you will get zapped. Pick on his weakness and demolish him if you have any lance or boomerang chips. Also go for widespread PA’s like LifeSword. After you win, you get Thunder soul and are announced champion and a helicopter takes you away. Now time to save the world. {*The ultimate sniper-Searchman, green guy (red sun) (TUS)} Ok, in this chapter we can actually leave the building without a cutscene annoying us. So do so. Make your way for the street and a cutscene will happen in which Searchman’s operator, Raika, walks into you, punches you in the stomach, and walks off. This just makes it more pleasing to cream Searchman later on. Now, go to the metroline and fly to Russia. Go inside the space centre and talk to the man in front of the PC. He will fight you, so cream him and he gives you a Copy Key. Now, here is what we are going to do: We need to go to one of the deepest parts of the Internet, Under(net) 6. But before you go, you should get the C-Slider if you haven’t already. Below is how to get the C-Slider, once you get it, continue on. Board: City2, on the lower part, a pink navi partly hidden by an overhead path. 4000z. Arrange: When you have all of the C-Slider parts, go into Afri Internet and take the rightmost exit and you should be in a part of Rus Internet. Now, once you have the Slider, fly back to Europe and jack into the Hotel room’s statue. Go into Afri Internet and go up the giant ramp and to the far end where you will see a small compressed path. Take it and you will be in the Blue part of Rus Internet, which has a Train Station at the end which will take you to Under1. So get to it and ride into Under1. Continue on through the tunnel and eventually you will come to a crossroad and you will see some sights/scopes/targeting radicals/crosshairs, whatever you people call them these days, lock onto you. Then Megaman will be shot at and you will be prompted to push a direction, do it immediately to dodge, if the bullet hits you, guess what: you lose HP. So avoid getting shot as much as possible. Throughout this entire level, you’ll be sniped, and a lot of you might be wishing that you had bought Blue Moon in the end. Take the left path from the crossroads and continue on until you get to a big warp portal (at least you don’t have to unlock big gates before the warps like you would in Blue Moon). Welcome to Under2. Continue on through Under2 to Under3. Lucky for you guys, you get to go straight to Under6 from Under3 (Blue Moon patrons had to take the scenic route and go through all of the areas). Now, take the long path and the left fork. You will eventually come to a blue gate, so use the Copy Key to unlock it. Talk to the bad black navi in there and fight him, then a cutscene will occur in which some of his buddies gang up on you, and then the bad guys get sniped (what the heck is going on here, Searchman has been sniping you throughout the entire thing and now he is on your side?). After the scenes, jack out and exit the Hotel, and go into the Colosseum, only to be interrupted by…just kidding. You’re done, so go into the arena and beat up Searchman. Once again, you’re lucky, those who were playing Blue Moon had to put up with Protoman. Searchman HP: 900 Element: Normal Attacks: NapGrenade: Searchman ducks and tosses two Napalm grenades at you, which land randomly and explode in a cross shape. Sniper Ray: Every now and then a Crosshair will move up and down your field, if it locks onto you, an energy beam is shot down at you. Shotgun: He takes aim and fires. Strategy: He’s annoying, but not as annoying as he could be, just keep moving, and stay out of the row he’s on incase he decides to empty a shotgun clip. He will usually use a combo, in which he will throw grenades, wait a second, and then shoot at you as they fall. There are two boulders on the field that you can hide behind or use (To bad you don’t have Nobeam from MMBN3, he would be toast). I recommend the ever-faithful Lance and Boomerang chips, also poisoning his panels, using bombs/spreaders, etc works well. I would say go for wide reaching chips, but you won’t have much time to use them since you should be moving around a lot. In the end I say use chips that do your work for you, like poison panels, mine’s, etc. are the best choice. Plus, by now you should have enough chip memory to even Preselect a mine. Once you win you get the extremely useful Search Soul, as well as a nice trophy, and then a Helicopter takes Lan away. This should be fun. {-Armageddon (AMG)} After you win the Red Sun/ Blue Moon tournament, you should have gotten whisked away to ANSA by a helicopter. It turns out that the tournaments were just tests to find someone with enough skills to help. In this game, you now get to save both the Internet, and the entire world from a giant asteroid. Anyway, you get an email from the Hotel. When you can, go inside the ANSA entrance and cross the mover path. Go upstairs and talk to the purple haired official lady and continue inside. There will be a cutscene where Lan’s Dad introduces him to Dr. Regal. They then tell Lan what’s going on, and Lan says he’ll take care of it. We will now attempt to encase the entire world in a giant MetGaurd shield and cross our fingers. Yeah right, like that’s going to work! Anyway, back to the scene, eventually, a red alert goes off. After that the cutscene will end. By the way, right after this cutscene, go and talk to Lan’s dad immediately, he will give you either the Meteor Red Sun or Blue Moon Ray chip, depending on which version your playing. Now, go talk to Regal and he will give you a key item. Then exit the room and building and go downstairs, where you will see a small walkway. That’s the airport, so use it to leave. By the way, you can now visit every part of the planet. Now, there are weird red gates all over the Internet, so lets waste our time by clearing them. Since you can make a steady path, fly to Thailand and jack into the quartet of statues. Get the Passcode if you don’t already have it and get onto the Internet. There are two gates in Thai, one before the exit to Europe, and one blocking the exit to ACDC Internet. To clear a gate, walk up to it, then press A and beat up the viruses inside. Now jack out and go Africa and jack into the tiki statue. Get onto the Internet and destroy the gate that’s by the exit. Now, get onto Rus Internet and destroy the gate there. After you have destroyed all of those gates, Lan’s dad emails you saying that something is weird. Well duh. Anyway, go through the exit and into Euro Internet. Go around and down the slope from Rus and explore a little until you get to the orange navi. Talk to him and he will tell you that the source of the trouble has to do with part of the Undernet. He then gives you the City Key Data. Now, get onto City Internet and go to City2. Use the warp to get onto the lower part of the area and go to the top right gate and unlock it with the key and go through. Now, you’re in another part of City4. You might notice a bad purple navi standing on a secluded platform. There is an invisible walkway somewhere in the area (I forgot where it is) to get to him. It’s worth it, because he gives you the Gun Del Sol 2 chip, which works like a charm against most navis, especially Shademan and the game’s boss. Anyway, once you get the Gun Del Sol, go back to the start of City4 and head along the left of the area and past the green program and through the exit. You will now be in the top of the Undernet. Head along the orange path, which is also the only one you can take and continue on and do the same in Under2. Then after Under 2 you will be in a different part of Park1. Talk to the bad navi and he will tell you some stuff about Laserman, then battle you. Beat him up and he’ll mention a world of dark. Then he blows up. Then you’ll see a cutscene at ANSA, then another one in which Glyde, Roll, and Gutsman shielded Megaman from the harm of the exploding navi you just beat. Now, leave wherever you are and fly to ANSA. Talk to the guy standing around doing nothing and you will get a letter from Lan’s Dad. Then go up the elevator and you will trigger a painfully long series of scenes. They are about to start up the ray and everyone leaves except Lan’s dad, who knows that Dr. Regal is up to no good. Then Lan comes out of the elevator and Lan’s dad tells you to run. Lan then walks halfway up the slope to his father and it blows up. Then Regal knocks out Lan’s dad. It turns out that Regal is the leader of the Nebula Syndicate. He’s the one who’s responsible for blocking you from good items behind those purple gates (which are called “Nebula Gates”); he’s also responsible for sicking Shademan on you, torturing Protoman, and being an all around annoyance. Oh yeah, he’s Laserman’s op as well. He then transmits Laserman into the laser to control it. By the way, the laser has been reprogrammed now to pull the asteroid into earth instead of blast it. “This is what we call a ‘Global Killer’, the end of mankind”. Anyway, after the scenes, you’ll notice that the laser’s power generator is still reachable, and you will automatically jack in. Welcome to the asteroid. By the way, I still don’t get it, but maybe you will: How the heck did we reach the Asteroid’s computer by jacking into the generator of the ANSA Blue Moon Ray (incase you didn’t guess, Capcom took the liberty of naming the Meteor and the Laserbeam after the versions, the Meteor is called Meteor Red Sun, and the Laser is the Blue Moon Ray.), what an amazing sense of logic Capcom has. Anyway, back to the Asteroid. The area is easy enough (easier then the other “final areas” in the previous versions, but the viruses are annoying, and are what stuff up a lot of people. So don’t get to cocky. Don’t let your HP get below half, if it does, you’re easy prey. I recommend leaving a weak virus in some battles and healing while he’s trying to hit you. If you have Blue Moon, just preselect grass stage and use Wood Soul on the grass stage to heal HP fast. So, here is the deal in the asteroid. The areas are maze-like yet simple. You will notice various panels that look like dice on them. You need to step on them in order of the numbers, so walk across the one that has 1 dot first, then 2 dots, and so on. After you walk across all of the panels in an area, they glow for a second and a white portal will open up in the area, you go through the portal to get to the next area. Also, these areas are timed, every now and then, a black hole opens up, when it does, press A like crazy to avoid getting sucked in or else you will be sent back to the start of the area. The Ast1 has three panels, so walk past all of them and go on to Ast2, which has four panels. Ast3 has four as well, but Ast4 has five. Now, this is important, after you have walked across all five panels in Ast4, save your game before you go up to the portal, or you can just go on. Anyway, walk up to the portal, and Laserman will warp in your way. We finally get to kick his but. And man is he easy. I think I can safely say that he is the easiest end of game sub-boss in the entire battle network series. But he gets boss stats anyway. Laserman HP: 1000 Element: Normal Attacks: Plus Laser: Tiles flash yellow in a cross shape for a second and then Laserman shoots a beam at them, it also cracks the center panel. Dark Hole: On low HP, Laserman will open a Dark Hole which heals approximately two HP every second. Ceiling Blast: Laserman shoots a beam at the top of the asteroid and rubble rains down on you. Laserbeam: Laserman raises his hand and shoots a beam directly at you, by the way, this is a time freeze attack; in other words, it’s like a navi chip. Strategy: He’s annoying, but I still say he’s easy. He moves around a lot, and the field is clear, so use widespread attacks and if you have any LifeSword PA’s, demolish him. The only real annoyances are his Laserbeam and his Plus Laser. Now, here is the common trick with the plus laser: stand on a tile in a center column, then let him shoot his laser at it, dodge, then the panel you stood on will have cracked, walk over it to break it, and then stand behind it, this way, when he next shoots the laser (since he can’t shoots the center of the laser at the last column of the field), the beam will go in the hole. Next, if you pay attention, you will notice that Laserman pauses briefly and puts his hand up before the screen darkens for his Laserbeam attack. So if you watch him closely, you will have a chance to dodge. Or do it the hard way and just keep off of the row he’s on. Congratulations, you beat Laserman. There is a scene in which Laserman blows up and then it switches to Regal, who, being the bad guy, gets so cocky that he tells the good guys his plans. NOW, THIS IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT, BEFORE YOU WALK THROUGH THAT WARP, SAVE YOUR GAME!!! This is the last part of the game, and in order to carry over your game properly, you have to save here. Note that before you go through the portal Megaman asks you if you have saved, answer yes, if you haven’t, then what are you waiting for? Save your game! After that, go through the portal and onward through the traditional long path. At the end, you will see a giant gap and a platform across with a giant- whatever it’s called. Then there is a scene where a giant head appears. It’s Duo, the navi controlling the asteroid. But he is so much more than just a navi. They talk a while, and then, Duo rips out Megaman’s dark soul and forces you to fight it. Megaman DS HP: Your Current HP Element: Normal Attacks: Chip: He can use any chip in your folder. PA: He can use any PA in your PA library (even if the necessary chips aren’t in your folder!). Buster: He shoots a buster shot at you. Strategy: Capcom must be making up for Laserman’s failure by giving this game TWO sub-bosses. He’s annoying, and if you’re stupid enough, you’ll find yourself getting smacked around by your own PA’s. Don’t worry about HP, as your HP is healed after this battle. Speed is all you need. Thankfully, your dark soul is trigger-happy and prefers to use his buster instead of chips. I can’t really recommend anything for this battle since I don’t know what your folder is. Oh yeah, Megaman DS also has all of the NaviCust programs that you have. So if you have Undershirt, be aware that he will need an extra hit. Just about the only things this guy hasn’t copied are your souls (thank god). -Paralysing Charge Shot- LifeSword- “Stop-hitting-yourself!” After beating yourself up, your dark soul returns. Anyway, Duo calls for his battle body (you didn’t actually think you would just get to beat up a floating head did you?) and says that evil will destroy everything. Now for the boss stats: DUO HP: 2000 Element: Normal Attacks: Bomb: A satellite like bomb comes floating out of Duo’s chest. Solo Missile: Duo launches a missile at you. Missile Volley: Duo launches three missiles at you. Double Swipe: A 2*3 space flashes yellow and Duo’s hand swipes at it, then, another 2*3 space flashes on the opposite of the field and another swipe comes. Quake Punch: A 2*2 area lights up yellow and Duo’s fist slams down. Ring Beam: Duo shoots a small beam out. Then a ring appears and alternates areas, if it hits you, you take major damage. The first ring appears on column 1 of his side, then your column 2, 3, and then 1. By the way that’s from left to right, so column 1 of your side is your back column. Barrage: Duo launches a barrage of 1-panel fists at you. Sigma Beam: Duo shoots a giant beam at your 1’st and 2’nd columns. Strategy: This is arguably the hardest boss in the entire series. The bomb is easy enough to avoid, the only problem is he tends to launch a missile volley at you while your dodging it. His barrage, quake punch, and solo missile are easy enough to dodge, and his missile volley homes in on you, so just stay still for a second then run to the other side of the field. Now, for the double swipe, the second you see a 2*3 space flash yellow, run to the other side of the field, then after his hand makes the first pass, run immediately to the opposite side of the field, otherwise you will be smacked by his second pass. As for the ring beam: First of all, you can’t dodge it just by standing out of the way, the rings are 1*3, which means they cover the entire area. This is easy to dodge once you do it the first time. First, get on the back column, then, after it appears on his field, it disappears and appears on the middle column, then it appears on the front column of your field, while it’s at the front column of your field, get to the middle column before it appears at the back. Now for chips, you should know that since Duo is, technically in space, attacks on the ground don’t affect him. Also, when his chest circle is black, you can’t hurt him, you can only hurt him when it’s open, so when it’s red, attack. I recommend chips like Gun Del Sol (if you have all three Gun Del Sols, use them in the Piledriver PA), Twinfang (the Madfang Pas work wonders on this guy), wave (once again, if you can get out the super wide PA, it will be great), and swords. Finally, despite what many walkthroughs say, you can, in fact, hurt Duo with Swords and Airpucks. Also, let me note that you CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT use Dark Chips during this battle. So, don’t go thinking that you will let yourself take a beating and them smoke him with a Darksword or a Dark Cannon. Congratulations, you have beat Duo. I’m not going to tell you what happens at the ending, because I’m one of those people who hate ruining endings for people. However, I will tell you what to do now that you have beaten the game. Fist of all, if you have just beat the game the first time, then you will notice that if you pick Continue after you have beaten the game, it will give you a second option, Hard Mode, and after you Beat Hard Mode you get Super-Hard mode. Each mode has an upgrade in Viruses, new souls, and new regions to explore. For example, in Normal, a common virus is Mettaur, in Hard they are upgraded to the red mettaur. Also, when you beat all three modes, you can do the “The darkness awakens” chapter. Don’t try doing it unless you have beaten the game on all three modes, you’re only wasting your time. Also, I recommend getting all of the chips possible in each mode, since it’s hard to get them in the other modes. For example, in normal mode, a common chip is MetGuard, but in hard mode, the red mettaurs give MetGuard 2’s instead of 1’s, so it’s hard to get MetGuard chips in Hard Mode. So, before you go on to a new mode, make sure you have everything (especially HP ups) from the current Mode your on. Otherwise you will find yourself spending the rest of the game having low HP and having to go to the Chip Trader to get the chips you missed before. It happens to a lot of people. Finally, if you couldn’t beat Duo on your first try, don’t feel bad, out of about 30 people I know who have beaten this game, only me and three friends have beaten him on the first try. {Sidequests (SQS)} Ok, since it is actually the only sidequest I know of, I’ll just start off with it. This quest will get you the incredibly useful Gun Del Sol3 chip, which is needed for the PA Piledriver. Now, jack in somewhere and get to Under4. Once there, find Django, who is standing in the middle of a giant piledriver, watching over Shademan’s coffin. Talk to him and he will ask you to get a Solar Sensor for him. Now, jack out and jack into an outdoor location. It must be outdoors, if you can’t think of one, jack into the tiki statue in Africa or Jo-Mon’s PC. Now for Django’s sensor. Go to Under2 and find a bad navi walking around, he will tell you that a black navi in Under6 has it. So go there, find the black bad navi, talk to him, and buy the sensor for 10000z. When you get it, make sure that you are jacked in from the outside, go back to Django and talk to him. There will be an interesting cutscene where Shademan gets destroyed by the light. Then there is some talking and Django gives Megaman the Gun Del Sol3. When all the scenes are over and everyone is gone, search Shademan’s coffin and you will find Shademan’s Nebula Code, which you can use to open the Nebula Gates (the purple gates with a skull on them). {--The darkness awakens (TDA) (you can only do this after you have beaten the super hard mode)} {**The path of darkness. (TPD)} Well now, let’s begin. Incase you need a reminder, you
